Budget Deficit Panel Is A Smoke Screen To Secretly Raise Taxes
By Audrey Howard on February 26, 2010, 7:53 amPresident Obama used an Executive Order to create the Budget Deficit Panel, when it could not pass the Senate. Its appointees supposedly represent both Democrats, Republicans and Independents. Its name describes its duties. What can be done to alleviate a growing budget, that can lead to debt that will cripple the nation.
Budget Deficit Panel Could Lead To Higher Taxes
Raising taxes is one way to attempt to control runaway spending that constantly produces deficits and increased national debt. President Obama pledged in the past that those earning less than $250,000 would not be subject to tax raises. However, recently President Obama converted to “agnosticism” in relation to this past promise. This clearly states that he is no longer tied to “religiously” oppose tax raises for those earning below this threshold. It could be termed a smokescreen, if under the guise of a mixed panel, taxes will fall on those earning less than $250,000. It becomes clear when the deficit and debt are both analyzed, that taxes on whichever group accepts them, will be the wave of the future.
Political Cover Is The True Aim Of The Budget Deficit Panel
When Congress, which still has a democratic majority rams through a tax increase on all, the Budget Deficit Panel can provide political cover. This can be done when the Budget Deficit Panel initiates this call for tax raises across the board. The President will point to the experts on the panel who approved it. The reader can be sure that much time went into deciding, who will be on this panel and will remain there. If President Obama was not sure the majority of the Budget Deficit Panel members would not rubber stamp his decisions, those members of the panel would not be there. Except those put there to make it appear Democratic. Of the 18 members on the panel, 6 will be chosen by President Obama. Republicans and Democrats choose the rest. The balance of power for any decision lies with the President. A clever way to further tax the American people.
