Dick Morris: Reps Could Take A 51% Majority In 2010 Midterm Elections
By Donald Griffith on February 16, 2010, 7:57 amPolitical analyst Dick Morris is never shy about saying what is on his mind, so many are taking notice of his prediction that the Republicans could hold 51 seats in the U.S. Senate following this November’s elections. It may take some doing, but if the dominoes all fall into place, the GOP may hold a majority.
Nevada
The current Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid is in trouble. There is a Republican primary, but Reid trails all four candidates that are running as Republicans in the polls. Conservatives would love nothing more than to see Reid voted out. There’s a target on his back, and should Reid be ousted, it would be a big blow to President Obama and his programs.
Colorado
Colorado is ripe for a Republican takeover. Morris seems to think that Michael Bennett, who was appointed a year ago to take the seat that was securely held by Ken Salazar who left to become Secretary of the Interior. He is shown as a loser in races with any of the three current Republican challengers. Former Colorado Lt. Governor Jane Norton would be a bad match up for Bennett.
Others
Other Dems who may fall in November include Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas who currently trails Republican Congressman John Bozeman by 23 points. A heavyweight fight is brewing in Indiana. Former Senator Dan Coates is back in the game, and he wants his old seat back. He will duke it out with Evan Bayh’s replacement for the seat in November. Another seat up for grabs is Byron Dorgan’s old seat in North Dakota. North Dakota’s popular Republican Governor John Hoeven is running for the seat and he has big leads over any and all challengers. Other states that could change to Republican are Illinois and Delaware, but that will take some work.
