Latest Breaking News On The Amanda Knox Guilty Verdict On Oprah
By Donald Griffith on February 23, 2010, 4:01 pmThe murder of Meredith Kercher caught the attention of the whole world. Perhaps it was the fact that this was a pretty young exchange student in a strange city. Perhaps it was because of the odd stories of orgies and devil worship that seemed to float around the story. Maybe it was because an attractive American girl murdered another in a faraway country. For whatever reason Kercher’s murder and her now convicted killers stole headlines for months.
Amanda Knox And Prosecutorial Misconduct
When the smoke had cleared, Italy claimed it had its culprits when they convicted Raffaele Sollecito, Rudy Hermann Guede, and Amanda Knox. Almost from the beginning, Italian prosecutors came under fire for the way they handled the investigation. Knox and Sollecito were interviewed by police without an attorney present. Other accusations said that the prosecutors clearly wanted to convict Knox because she was an American at first and then because the trial had drawn so much press coverage. The Italian prosecutors could hardly have egg on their face by failing to get a conviction when the rest of the world was watching.
In an unrelated case that still might speak volumes about his conduct chief prosecutor Giuliano Mignini, was convicted of abuse of office. The charges and conviction in that case stem from Mignini intimidating witnesses and even going so far as to bug the phones of certain journalists.
The Knox Family
From the very beginning, the Knox family has stood behind Amanda and continued to claim her innocence. Whether it is because they are have launched a successful media campaign touting Amanda’s lack of guilt, or because of the recent developments involving the prosecutor, the Knox family has being gaining sympathy. It was recently announced that the Knox family appeared on Oprah’s television show. Whether this tactic will have any effect on Amanda’s 26-year prison sentence has yet to be seen.

why doesn’t Obama get off his ass and send one of his special forces squads from Afghanistan in there and get her out when she is so obviously innocent. Why let an American citizen sit in jail for a crime they didn’t commit? At least demand her to be released into United States custody. Come on……you’re the most powerful man on the planet……lean on them and make it happen.
It is sad for both family who lost their daughter, and who get lock up at Italy and drain all her dad money from the saving and her dad lost his job too. when send kid oversea to a totally foreign country that it is all depend on the kids decision, behaving and knowledge on how to handle things. This is a mess for Knox family who still further in supporting her oversea jail prison which is hard on the family. I will not know how to handle this if this happen to me, I do have a college kid like two hours away from home which make me worry all the time.
I have seen the heartfelt case the parents of this girl, and her defense attorney, made on the Oprah Show. But they are arguing that the Italian courts didn’t have the smoking gun. Yeah, and O.J. was innocent. Read the trail documents. Don’t fall into the trap of 1) feeling antagonistic toward Italy and its Civil Law procedures, 2)Take her family and attorney’s cries of media influence as the cause of this girl’s girl. They claim her innocence: what they truly mean is that there was not, in their opinion, reasonable doubt. Which is our, Common Law, tradition. Sorry – the girl was not proved “not guilty.” Oprah’s show was extremely biased, only presenting one point of view.
GUILTY! GUILTY! GUILTY!
I’ve read so many topics on this. Guilty, not guilty, this is why, this isn’t why. She did this, no….it happened this way. I don’t care to hear about it anymore. Give poor Meredith’s soul, and her family peace. Stories don’t and wont add up, because the truth is still being tweeked. Good grief! I pray that Merediths soul may rest in peace, and not be remembered in vain because of foolish mistakes made by some people who thought it would just be dust under the rug. RIP Meredith.
The evidence against Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito is overwhelming.
Amanda Knox’s DNA was found on:
1. On the double DNA knife and a number of independent forensic experts – Dr. Patrizia Stefanoni, Dr. Renato Biondo and Professor Francesca Torricelli – categorically stated that Meredith’s DNA was on the blade.
2. Mixed with Meredith’s blood on the ledge of the basin.
3. Mixed with Meredith’s blood on the bidet.
4. Mixed with Meredith blood on a box of Q Tip cotton swabs.
5. Mixed with Meredith’s blood in the hallway.
6. Mixed with Meredith’s blood on the floor of Filomena’s room, where the break-in was staged.
7. On Meredith’s bra according to Dr. Stefanoni AND Raffaele Sollecito’s forensic expert, Professor Vinci.
Amanda Knox’s footprints were found set in Meredith’s blood in two places in the hallway of the new wing of the cottage. One print was exiting her own room, and one print was outside Meredith’s room, facing into the room. These bloody footprints were only revealed under luminol.
A woman’s bloody shoeprint, which matched Amanda Knox’s foot size, was found on a pillow under Meredith’s body. The bloody shoeprint was incompatible with Meredith’s shoe size.
Two independent imprint experts categorically excluded the possibility that the bloody footprint on the blue bathmat could belong to Rudy Guede. Lorenzo Rinaldi stated:
“You can see clearly that this bloody footprint on the rug does not belong to Mr. Guede, but you can see that it is compatible with Sollecito.”
The other imprint expert print expert testified that the bloody footprint on the blue bathmat matched the precise characteristics of Sollecito’s foot.
An abundant amount of Raffaele Sollecito’s DNA was found on Meredith’s bra clasp. Meredith’s bra was removed some time after she had been killed and Rudy Guede had fled the scene.
The murder dynamic implicates Knox and Sollecito.
Barbie Nadeau wrote the following:
“Countless forensic experts, including those who performed the autopsies on Kercher’s body, have testified that more than one person killed her based on the size and location of her injuries and the fact that she didn’t fight back—no hair or skin was found under her fingernails.”
Judge Paolo Micheli claimed that Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito knew precise details about Meredith’s murder that they could have only known if they were present when she was killed.
Amanda Knox voluntarily admitted that she involved in Meredith’s murder in her handwritten note to the police on 6 November 2007. She stated on at least four separate occasions that she was at the cottage when Meredith was killed. She also claimed that Sollecito was at the cottage.
Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito both gave multiple conflicting alibis and lied repeatedly. Their lies were exposed by telephone and computer records, and by CCTV footage. Neither Knox nor Sollecito have credible alibis for the night of the murder despite three attempt each. At the trial, Sollecito refused to corroborate Knox’s alibi that she was at his apartment.
Legal expert Stefano Maffei stated the following:
“There were 19 judges who looked at the evidence over the course of two years, faced with decisions on pre-trial detention, review of such detention, committal to trial, judgment on criminal responsibility. They all agreed, at all times, that the evidence was overwhelming.”
God will make it right soon…I believe
”When the smoke had cleared, Italy claimed it had its culprits when they convicted Raffaele Sollecito, Rudy Hermann Guede, and Amanda Knox.”
”When the smoke had cleared…” That’s a little premature. At this point in the proceedings, (circa Nov./Dec.07), a thick pall of fog had quickly descended and shrouded the entire case. It materialised with the help of the Italian national press, the seemingly inept work of the prosecution team, and the widespread anti-American public opinion that was rapidly developing in Italy following the breakdown of the Lozano case just two weeks prior. On top of that, the clamour of their own protest about the acquittal of the two USAF pilots responsible for the Cavalese cable car disaster, was still ringing in their ears.
The smoke only cleared on this case sir, when the American public became aware of the miscarriage of justice which was being perpetrated against one of their number, and one or two of them bothered to raise a protest.
Christina Forsythe says:
”Don’t fall into the trap of feeling antagonistic toward Italy and its Civil Law procedures”
Why not? Should we feel okay about the court and its findings that tried and meted out its own sort of justice to Daniel Pearl in Pakistan as well? Why stop there? Perhaps we shouldn’t feel antagonistic toward the 9/11 attackers. After all, most of them were Saudis and they were friends and business associates of our president. Yes, let’s all just turn a blind eye when it’s open season on Americans in ”friendly” countries and not dream of disturbing Judy’s (above) ”dust under the rug” when an American is abducted out of political spite in Christine’s ‘chianti county.’
Look at the seemingly authentic evidence presented by someone calling themselves ”Harry Rag” above. ‘Seemingly,’ because on reflection, the thoughtful reader will realise that it has about as much authenticity as the charlatan (with his pseudonym), who posted it. For example, consider the list of blood and DNA mixtures it cites. It appears to present some pretty damning factual evidence against Amanda. In fact, it is shallow, misleading, and without substance. And the application of a little logic will prove this.
As Amanda had been living in 7 Via della Pergola for 2 months prior to the murder, the observations on the list describing certain conditions in the cottage at the time of the murder are hardly surprising. What’s more, for all their dramatic declarativeness, they can hardly be understood as describing viable evidence. Please reconsider this list in light of the fact that this is Amanda’s home. Thus:
Meredith Kercher’s blood was found on:
Mixed with Amanda’s DNA on the ledge of the basin. (The one Amanda washed in every day).
Mixed with Amanda’s DNA on the bidet. (The one Amanda washed in every day).
Mixed with Amanda’s DNA on a box of Q Tip cotton swabs. (This box of Q Tips belonged to Amanda so presumably she had handled the box!!).
Mixed with Amanda’s DNA in the hallway. (The hallway Amanda had to use to get in and out of the cottage every day)
Mixed with Amanda’s DNA on the floor of Filomena’s room, where the break-in was staged.
(Presumably, Amanda ventured into this room to investigate why the door was open and there was broken glass all over the place).
This is the elephant in the room: you might as well look at your wife, husband, brother, sister, or whoever you live with, and wonder why their DNA is mixed with yours in the bathroom and in the hall of YOUR home.
I’ll just pick something else too which shows how much this person is wasting your time.
For example, this information from Rag was presented in court in June 2009:
”A woman’s bloody shoeprint, which matched Amanda Knox’s foot size, was found on a pillow under Meredith’s body. The bloody shoeprint was incompatible with Meredith’s shoe size.”
Again, seemingly pretty damning stuff. Yet it is redundant and misleading:
On September 18th, 2009, Francesco Vinci, the forensics expert, testified at Amanda’s trial about two vague traces of bloody shoe-prints that were found on a pillow under the victim’s body. While the police had previously suspected that one was a partial print of the bottom of Rudy Guede’s right sneaker – a Nike Outbreak2 – and the other the heel of a smaller shoe, probably a woman’s, Vinci testified in Sept 09 at Amanda’s trial, that the original assumptions about the marks on the pillow were wrong, and that more thorough analysis carried out subsequently, proved conclusively that BOTH prints were from a left shoe, the Nike Outbreak 2 already cited belonging to Guede.
To confute the cheap shot misleading effect of Rag’s kind of presentation then, one has only to consider at this point the fact that NONE of the DNA, nor ANY of the other forensic evidence discovered in the murder room, was attributable to Amanda. She simply cannot have been present in the room where and when the murder took place.
Thank you for your time and I hope I have successfully dissuaded you from quoting Harry Rag at the dinner party table.
A few weeks ago the Free Foxy PR campaign said Hillary Clinton was about to take up her case. Why didn’t she? Because she realised Foxy had been found guilty of murder. The US Embassy in Rome realised this as well. It’s only a few sad Americans who think that due process, facts and a rational view of the world should be replaced by emotional garbage based on nothing but ‘gut instinct’ and Walt Disney imagination.
I see lots of comments saying that the “prosecution were inept”. Surely the defence is the one proven inept ?? The prosecutions case convinced the jury, the defence rebuttal didn’t. Why are the people who are convinced Amanda is innocent not attacking the defence team for a job done badly, and why are they continuing to support them ?? I know lots of crap businesses that would love people to throw money at them.
I am so tired of the bull on this. Amanda Knox was given the shaft in Italy and anyone who knows the case knows that. Harry Rag is a misinformation junkie who is all over the net trying to make Amanda look guilty but his facts are wrong as most know by now. Personally I am beginning to feel that the soft line with Italy is not working and they are not only blind but arrogant on top of it. It is time for the US to take a firm stand on one of it’s own being thrown in prison on charges that would never hold up in a U S court of law. Italy seems to think that the American political machine will do nothing in this case, and they just may be right on that one. If the State Dept (Hillary Clinton) wants to turn a blind eye on this what are they worth. This could be anyone one of us over there. And business as usual- let’s keep the peace and promote good international relations- well sometimes that just doesn’t cut it. These elected politicians are worried more about their political futures than helping Americans overseas getting the shaft. I loved it when a major reporter said when writing about the Amanda Knox case: “After reading this article you are going to want to send the 82nd Airbourne division over there to get this girl out of jail.” It was a nice thought, but unfortuntely the powers that be in this country do not have the gumption to do the right thing. And the Italians are quite aware of this- hence their arrogance. Sorry I guess this was just a tear- After awhile you just get fed-up with all the soft-soap Oh let’s please Italy and not offend them. So is this what America is about nowdays- get the shaft overseas and your elected officials do nothing. I am not saying we should force Italy to knuckle under to our will- What I am saying is the U S government should do something to protect it’s people overseas- by at least making an investigation of such things as the Amanda Knox case. There is a good chance that Italy will not do the right thing regarding the appeal in the Ameana Knox case. Is the American government going to even investigate- Who knows? In the land of the free.
Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito repeatedly told the police a pack of lies in the days after Meredith’s murder.
On 5 November 2007, Knox and Sollecito were confronted with proof that they had lied and were given another opportunity to tell the truth. However, they both chose to tell the police even more lies.
Sollecito’s new alibi was shattered by computer forensic evidence and his mobile phone records.
Knox accused an innocent man, Diya Lumumba, of murdering Meredith despite knowing full well that he was completely innocent. She didn’t recant her false and malicious allegation against Lumumba the whole time he was in prison.
Knox’s account of what happened on 2 November 2007 is contradicted by her mobile phone records.
Rudy Guede’s bloody footprints lead straight out of Meredith’s room and out of the house. He didn’t lock Meredith’s door, remove his trainers, go into Filomena’s room or the bathroom that Meredith and Knox shared.
Rudy Guede didn’t scale the vertical wall outside Filomena’s room or gain access through the window. The break-in was clearly staged. This indicates that somebody who lived at the cottage was trying to deflect attention away from themselves and give the impression that a stranger had broken in and killed Meredith.
Guede had no reason to stage the break-in and there was no physical evidence that he went into Filomena’s room.
The scientific police found a mixture of Amanda Knox’s DNA and Meredith’s blood on the floor.
There was no physical evidence that Rudy Guede went into the blood-spattered bathroom. However, the scientific police found proof that Knox and Sollecito tracked Meredith’s blood into this bathroom.
Amanda Knox’s DNA was found mingled with Meredith’s blood in three different places in the bathroom: on the ledge of the basin, on the bidet, and on a box of Q Tips cotton swabs.
Sollecito left a visible bloody footprint on the blue bathmat.
Amanda Knox left a bloody shoeprint on the pillow under Meredith’s body.
Knox’s and Sollecito’s bare bloody footprints were revealed by luminol in the hallway. Knox’s DNA and Meredith’s DNA was found mixed together in one of the bloody footprints.
An abundant amount of Raffaele Sollecito’s DNA was found on Meredith’s bra clasp. Sollecito must have applied considerable pressure to the clasp in order to have left so much DNA. The hooks on the clasp were damaged which confirms that Sollecito had gripped them tightly.
Amanda Knox’s DNA was found on the handle of the double DNA knife and Meredith’s DNA was found lodged in a tiny groove on the blade. Sollecito knew that Meredith’s DNA was on the blade which is why he twice lied about accidentally pricking her hand whilst cooking.
The defence experts were unable to prove that there had been any contamination. Alberto Intini, head of the Italian police forensic science unit, pointed out that unless contamination has been proved, it does not exist.
Amanda Knox voluntarily admitted that she involved in Meredith’s murder in her handwritten note to the police on 6 November 2007. She stated on at least four separate occasions that she was at the cottage when Meredith was killed. She also claimed that Sollecito was at the cottage.
Why can’t you Americans accept that Amanda did it? The evidence is overwhelming. If this amount of evidence had been collected against anyone else except a nice-looking American girl you’d all be saying she was guilty. How much evidence do you need? And don’t keep resorting to xenophobia and prejudice to defend your arguments. This was a FAIR trial as agreed by Hillary Clinton and American journalist Andrea Vogt. I’m British btw but I live in Italy.SHE DID IT!
well as hard as it is to believe that amanda may be innocent none of it matters whats done is done and cannot be change,no point in arguing about it best thing to do is to now move forward p.s. if this was a trial in south africa with that kind of evidence whether amanda lived with meredith or not she would have benn found guilty…..nothing is far in life and we here will never know the real truth behind any of it only the people involved will know and they all got skeletons in the closet cheerz guys and girls just my point of view
The murder of Meredith Kercher is sad and it is even more sad that a prosecutor in Italy likes to indulge in the belief in witch Craft, Satanism etc and even has a judge under his belt. I totally enjoyed going to Italy in the past, but as I hear the facts of this case – I will never return to Italy as I realize people are led like sheep there, and slaughtered occasionally as Amanda Knox has been.
Amanda Knox is the Killer and a VERY SMART one who thought she could out wit the ‘italian Police/CSI/Law’. In fact she was banking on people like John Winters list of her DNA found in places she had used prior to the murder.
The trouble is Americans need to get off their high horse and let other countries do their job their way and above all accept it. I agree with Christina Forsythe.
Open your EYES and stop presuming America is the Best at Everything and therefore any American who is accused of a crime in a another country is not acceptable due to their standard not being EXACTLY like American Law. Yes corruption is worldwide, especially is America, have we all forgotten GWB and 9/11? HELLO! It is in USA too of did everyone just forget that including the naive lady who is afraid to visit Italy now.
You should be more afraid of the trigger happy LAPD !
In that case stay put and stop talking about ‘ Change’….
In conclusion Amanda is still alive ( guilty or not), her parents still have a daughter that will one day return ( older, richer, smarter).
Meredith Kertcher is Dead, her life was cut short by a Smart Pretty killer.
Her family will have already been forgotten. They should be on Oprah.
Now I guarantee Hollywood will make a film on Amanda Knox and make a few million out of it.
Shame on you ‘United’ States America? huh.
This is not the first case where you All have behaved this way.
OK Answer me this then?
Why hasn’t Raphaele Sollicito confirmed Amanda Knox;s alibi when by doing so it would just reinforce his own? Can’t do it can you!
If that wasn’t enough just try to scale a 12 foot high wall leaving no marks at all and in full view of the street (Break in cover-up) Not only that but 12 feet will only bring you to the bottom of the window sill, not into the room since the shutters were closed anyway. So please all you people who have this gut feeling that she is innocent. Please look at all of the evidence, not just your handy dandy pick and choose items. Of course they are guilty and will be found so upon appeal. I read somewhere that someone in Seattle said we should “Flood her cell with flowers.” I personally would like to see her cell flooded with something out of the nearest Perugia sewer. There!! chew on that you lot!!!!

You arrogant twit! She’s guilty as hell and I think we all know it! You should be ashamed! Special forces – demanding release – Jesus why don’t we give her a sainthood????? AK should rot in hell for what she has done!!
Come on, nobody really knows except Amanda & Rafaelle. If she’s innocent, I hope to God she’s able to get out. If she isn’t, she is where she needs to be. I tell you something, she should have had a lawyer from day one, shut her mouth and not be so public about everything. A lesson for everybody who posts their whole lives at social networks.
Everyone that is spouting evidence. How about the knife didn’t match the wounds on the body. Who found Meridith, could the DNA mixture been skin cells mixed with blood? They did live together. Why did Amanda get 26 years Solicito 25 and the murderer only 15????
Plus you don’t allow the Jury to go home and look at the newspapers and tv.
If the motive was a sex game gone wrong then the victim was participating and the charge should be involitary manslaughter not murder.
Plus people that say their not Italian but are from the UK. The victim was from the UK
Lastly what was the motive???
Meredith-who posted here, (not the lovely person who was murdered)
You are hateful!!!!!
This case is ridiculous. i understand where some people are coming from with the abundance of evidence, but you must consider, was this evidence handled properly and if not, then it needs to be removed. Italy is different than America. In USA if the lead pros. was convicted of anything, let alone abusing power, the case would have been thrown and all the evidence with it. Period. Lead investigators are trusted in Italy, here in america we see a convicted authority as an evil.
Next, in no way is Merediths soul tied to this trial. Shes dead, thats the way it is, someone took her from the world too early. The ending outcome of this trial will niether release her soul, nor cure her parents grief.
Truth be told, its not about Meredith anymore. Its about the international judicial system and how lacks it is.
Don’t be stupid people! Amanda’s DNA has every right to be in that bathroom, even mixed with blood. She shared the bathroom with Meredith. Imagine your bathroom, how much DNA do you think is in that room. ALOT.
No blood belonging to Amanda, or proof of her even having a weapon has been presented.
Personally, I think Amanda is souless, and probably helped kill Meredith. However, she was not given a fair trial, therefore, there is no way to PROVE beyond a reasonable doubt that she was responsible or involved in the murder.
Questioning her for hours in a forgien language is abuse and with a detective charged I do not see how the family can be indited.
Italy should stop trying to be strict and give us back our citizen. NOW!
Personally I think Amanda and the other two did it. The evidence wasn’t even near perfect, but who else would’ve done this. I don’t think an American Court would have ruled any different. Frankly, I’d take my chances in any court in the world over America.
