Obama’s Inheritance: Unemployment, Recession, Immigration, What Next
By Victor Hatley on September 3, 2010, 3:05 pmAfter enjoying 8 good years the Republican party lost out to Change. A change from the policies that were in the midst of destroying more than 8 million jobs, reducing home values to a fraction of what they were, and shipping many of the jobs that remained overseas. This is not to mention that Americans were tired of the rich getting richer on the backs of the little man. The problem with all this though is this: It took more than 8 years to create this economic disaster…it will probably take more than a decade to correct it. But in today’s society, instant gratification seems to be playing a major factor in the public’s opinion of those in charge of fixing it.
All That…Here’s The Bag Of Chips
This morning the Labor Department released the weekly jobless report…still, with very weak numbers. The report showed that the private sector upped 67,000 new jobs, a few more than expected, but overall the economy lost 54,000. This figure increased the percentage to 9.6%, but the good news from the private sector may have influenced the stock market, stocks rose after the release of the report. The President did announce that he had devised a measures package to help stimulate more economic growth, especially in the jobs area. His didn’t go into detail about the package, but did say he was “confident Democrats and Republicans can come together to agree on steps to move the economy forward.”
Now About All That
The catastrophic condition of this nation when Mr. Obama became President has been the focus of every American. Every one of us has been affected by either unemployment, housing issues, credit problems, medical problems, immigration issues, or just had to cut back on the grocery bill and be more careful about the lights because of this “Great Recession” as it is being called. I am sure the President and all of his advisers are doing the best they know to do, remember, this has never happened this badly before, no one is sure of how to fix it.
