Politics: The Full Story Of Iranian Scientist Sounds Pretty Fishy

The full story of what happened to Iranian scientist Shahram Amiri seems inconsistent and has people everywhere scratching their head. Amiri claims that he was kidnapped after attending an Islamic pilgramage in Saudi Arabia in 2009 and that the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia are somehow all conspiring against him.

Was He Kidnapped

Amiri returned to Iran and is saying that he was kidnapped, forced to go into a car, and was told by Saudi Arabians that he will be sent to Israel to be killed. The United States officially addressed this issue and maintains that Amiri was a visitor to the United States and that he was free to leave the country and go home at anytime. There are reports that the United States CIA gave Amiri several millions of dollars for classified information in regards to Iran’s nuclear program. American Intelligence officials briefly placed Amiri in a witness protection program designed for defectors and it is unclear why he decided to change his mind and go back to Iran. After Amiri returned to Iran, he decided to tell his side of the story to the Iranian press with his young son sitting beside him.

Anti-Western View

Amiri’s anti western view and opinions about Israel and the United States seem to be exactly what the government of Iran loves to hear and this is adding more fuel to an already wild fire. The most unbelievable aspect of this story is that Israel and Saudi Arabia would be on the same side against Amiri with the US’s approval. Since Saudi Arabia is the hub of worldwide Islamic activity, it seems more likely that Saudi Arabia would be leaning more on the side of the Islamic Republic of Iran who has not been allies with Israel and the United States since the Shah was in power.
