Sarah Palin & Tea Party Movement Stand Alone As “Voice Of Reason”
By Richard West on February 13, 2010, 8:54 amAs more and more Americans view the political shenanigans in Washington with increasing levels of disdain, the Tea Party movement and Sarah Palin in particular are the only stars apparently on the rise. President Obama openly spoke about the public’s distrust of “politics as usual” in his State Of The Union speech, but is yet to turn his words into change we can believe in. His recent overtures to Republicans are openly viewed as just being more of the same old dog and pony show.
Common-Sense Solutions
On the other hand, Sarah Palin’s lambasting criticism of “Professor Obama” at the recent Tea Party rally has struck a nerve in the American political scene. The argument is that the nation doesn’t need government to cure the economic malaise. What the nation needs is for government to get out of the way. That is a powerful argument when one considers the health care debacle, climate change legislation, and possible increases in middle class taxes.
Americans Feel Nation Is On The Wrong Track
Fully 65% of Americans feel the nation is now on the wrong track, and is willing to shove lawmakers out of office who support the status quo in Washington. Now Americans are looking at incumbent voting records and asking questions of legislators in regards to motivation. Are the votes being made for the people, for the party, or for the reelection campaign? And if the legislator voted for the policies that have caused the situation in the first place, then why should they be reelected?
In the end, the fundamental attraction that Sarah Palin and the Tea Party movement possesses is one of a simple message delivered in a confrontational, yet non-political style. It is one of substance over style. That approach will go a long way towards winning America’s disenfranchised voters.

She is a neo-con in Tea party clothing. The neo-cons started as raging liberals, they they hijacked the Republican party, and now are moving on to the Tea Party.
Neo-Cons are opportunistic and more related to a parasite than any other species.
Ron Paul seems to be one of the few voices of reason.
Have you ever noticed how many lawyers are in DC. Until you remove a majority of lawyers from the process, the government will never be fixed. Only then can common sense rules be enacted. You can blame most of america’s problems on lawyers as they have perverted the law and seem to be the only group that prospers in good times and bad. The country needs to be run by everyday commson sense americans, not Ivy league elitest’s that no nothing about the common man.
It is always at times of true stress that Know-Nothingism grows, with its combination of magical simplistic solutions and hate of all but narrow-minded self. The Tea Party Movement has as its slogan “Throw Thinkers Out” – evident in the contempt used by the celebrity of the moment, Sarah Palin.
Maybe, No! what we need are fresh politicians
without their fancy law degrees and political
ties, and just put some fresh good ole “Americans in office who really care
about their neighbors and not their pockets.
I think the tea parties will eventually
get Washingtons notice, but lets hope its not
too late. Maybe Sarah is not the right one for the job, but I’m sure there are some very qualified Americans out there who would do a very fine job and get our country on the right track.
Thanks for this opportunity.
Substance over style definitely works for me. I think Palin is a great, common sense conservative. Unfortunately, I also agree that she can’t win a presidential election. She has been too devisive, I fear, to lure in the independant voters she would need to win.
If this is the voice of reason We Are Doomed.
Richard , you seem to have missed the fact that Ms Palin’s numbers are going down. As for same old same old, wrong. Or is that the republicans and you, realize that to avoid the meeting will expose their intransigence, and going will expose them as the party of obstrucionism. Finally how long will it take you and those like you to realize the extent of the damage from President Bush, and the Global meltdown of 2008? Without goverment involvement this counrty would be in the worst depression ever. As for Ms Palin, great TV, enormous fun, super for satire yet totally empty of rational thought and any ability to lead.
In choosing her, Sen.McCain injured his quest for the Presidency, and exposed himself for what he was. Incompetant, and unprepared to be president.
Voice of reason?? More like voice of idiocy. Palin and her ilk appeal to ignorance – and it appears that many of the voters in this country want just that. We don’t need another Bush (with boobs) running this country!
Nice try at writing a cohesive argument Richard but you’ve done nothing more than prove that literacy testing should be the first step toward allocating keyboards to people. The second step, of course, would be the ability to think critically. In either test Richard, you would be left with nothing more than an Etch-A-Sketch to create your random doodlings. The combined IQ of our last president and Palin compares unfavorably with the IQ of one of Limbaugh’s retards. Cheers
Palin is a “voice of reason”? What color is the sky in YOUR world? Less government is the answer? Yeah- like we had for 8 years with W. How’d that work out for ya? Let’s see- one homeland security breach- 3000 plus dead; 2 wars, still being fought 8 years later- can’t even figure out how many dead; turned record surpluses into record deficits; let Wall Street run wild and brought the economy to the brink of collapse. Palin stands for more of this. Yes sir- MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
The polls tell a different story.
Ok. The Tea Party is all about “government getting out of the lives of people”. Do they not understand that once this happens, the people’s voices will be diminished in proportion and that corporations will happily step into the void that’s left, buying influence, writing laws and policy? So go ahead, put your trust in the same corporations see sane environmental laws as a barrier to profit. Put your trust in the clowns who through gambling with your savings, your pensions, your livelyhood, tank the economy and then look to you to bail them out. Put your trust in the corporations that resist paying living wages to its workers. Enjoy, fools! Enjoy, enjoy!
It’s been ordinary people who have had the common sense and wisdom to be the backbone of America. These are the people who tell the truth from experience and get it right and honest. S.Palin has had the intelligence to recognize this and tap into the wisdom and ride the wave of energy — It still works, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free”. People recognize a truthful trustworthy candidate; like lighting a candle in a dark room — the light is more apparent because of the darkness of the current government malaise.
I often wonder when I see comments about the “big Bad Corporation” who do you think employs people? Should corporations disappear and everything be run by the government and the “little people”? It is so easy to throw populist rhetoric out there but the reality is that we need business to prosper so that people will be hired. When people are hired, they have money to pay taxes, buy things and provide for thier family or is that governments job too?
Americans are waking up. Some of sooner than others, but in time many more will finally “get it.” Of course, there are those politicians who would say that “we don’t get it.” They could not be more wrong. We got it a long time ago, now it’s time for them to get it. We want them out along with their agendas of self-enrichment and their backroom deals. Enough already.
Whether or not Sarah Palin ever runs for President is beside the point. She is a force in American politics. If she doesn’t run for President, then to be successful, the next Republican candidate will need her support.
Sister Sarah, the Rahab of the Righties, doesn’t like smart, educated, articulate thinkers. If Sarah were able to think on her feet, she’d take a spontaneous non-scripted question or two, which she refuses to do. Sarah, as a rigid anti-intellectual, is trying to usher in a Christian Reconstructionist/Dominionist Theocracy, where Leviticus is the Law of the Land, Genesis is Science, and anyone who isn’t a God-fearing Fundamentalist is either imprisoned or executed. She wants to usher in Armageddon.
Obama is black, get over it. Stop all the whining and work with him.
get sara palin in office she is down to earth i have a lot of respect for her . i cant say that about any one in washington they are crooks looking out for them selfs
The founder of the TEAPARTY has renounced Palin, calling her a “wolf in sheep’s clothing ready to hijack the Teaparty…”
On another front,
Ron Reagan Jr, also came out and siad Palin should not be compared to his father because”… she doesn’t have a thought in her head.”
Whoa!!!
President Sarah Heath Palin – January 20th, 2013!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Obama was elected by the dumb people. Obama continues to be supported by the dumb people. You know, the ones who think OJ didn’t commit those murders.
LISTEN UP FOLKS!! Give Sister SARAH some serious thought!!! TOO many good “OLD” boys tryin’ to get in on the GOP ticket! And the heck of it is; they ain’t getting any younger! Which ever party you belong to–remember this– our next pres. will be a woman!!! If not Sarah my money says it’ll be Ms Hillary-ous Cliton. You think she doesn’t have a thought in her head; think again Reagan jr. you ain’t the brightest star in the sky as I see it–so buzz off– what you have is a pea brain and a microphone!! Remember hat your daddy said about microphones?? So– your choice folks–either Hillarious Cliton or Sarah Palin for your next pres. I say Sarah is our best choice!!
‘ANYBODY REMEMBER ROSS PERIOT?
Sarah Palin advocates nothing new; simply parrots talking points and when one examines any policies she may bring to the table, they have already been applied, with mixed results at best and catastrphe at worst.
Government getting out of the way simply means allowing corporations to run wild, pollute the water and air; ship jobs off to Third World nations. Since the late 1970s/early 1980s, productivity has increased while wages have remained flat. Many industrial workers saw their jobs shipped to low wage nations in the 1980s.
Under George W. Bush, the U.S. lost an estimated 1/3 of industrial base economy jobs.
The policies Palin would implement would also revive the same fallout the U.S. experienced with the S&L Crisis, which cost Americans $124.6 billion; of which her buddy McCain can share $3.4 billion of that loss, which was the cost to seize Keating’s company and cover bondholder losses, which themselves ranged from $250 million to $288 million. She would allow people like Michael Milken to run free.
Under Bush II, the nation saw the worst terror attacks on U.S. soil; the Enron, WorldCom and Anderson accounting scandals; tax cuts yet carrying on two wars/occupations, therefore not financing them (Iraq was not even funded through normal appropriations but through supplemental requests) and the worst recession since the Depression.
Many people blame the unions for the loss of America’s manufacturing base. While the unions merit their share of criticism on various points (mainly the ties of certain unions to organized crime), this is another soundbite to justify the abuses of employers. Nike produces many of its shoes in Indonesia, which likely only costs $10 per pair to make. Yet, the American consumer’s cost never goes down; the proof is in the price pudding. Nike shoes cost anywhere from $100-$300 per pair. So, people like Palin and the Tea Partiers need to step away from the whole unions are bad talking point and do some simple shopping and learn that even without American union labor, the cost never decreases; rather, profits and executive salaries increase.
She cannot articulate the depth of any issue; just slogans and platitudes, which just so happen to benefit transnational corporations, not hard working Americans or even small local businesses.
Lastly, here is Sarah Palin in a nutshell:
-Cannot even answer softball questions from Katie Couric as to what she reads to inform herself
-Would not answer questions as asked in debate; went into recited talking points about her job as mayor and governor when that was not the question
-Lied about Obama’s association with Bill Ayers; discredited by both FactCheck.org and by the very paper she was citing to claim Obama “pals around with terrorists.”
-Was awarded LIE OF THE YEAR by PolitiFact for her Death Panels claim
-Calls Obama a charismatic guy with a teleprompter yet has to read off of her hand her three main soundbites or buzzwords; sad when she was speaking to “her people” and likely had the questions in advance; changes reason for Palmgate four times-her dad taught her such technique; poor man’s teleprompter; did it for a reaction; now says God did it, so she should too.
-Thought Afghanistan was a neighboring nation
-Thought VP was actually a legislator; part of caucuses and committees
In 2102, should she run, her ticket will not be cancelled by Barack Obama but rather by her fellow Republicans.
And that’s that.
