Senate Unemployment Extension Bill: How Soon Will I Get My Check
By Julie Smith on July 22, 2010, 9:15 amThe extension of unemployment benefits for those people who have been unemployed longer than 26 weeks has passed in the Senate by a vote of 59 to 39 votes. President Obama should sign the bill soon so that the more than 3 million unemployed can begin to see their benefits restored to them until November.
Who Will Be Affected By The Unemployment Extension
Nearly 3.3 million Americans would be without benefits or jobs if the unemployment extension bill is not passed. The rising number of unemployed plus the sagging economy has put a sense of frustration in many Americans. The Senate hopes to relieve the frustration of the ever growing number of unemployed by extending the benefits to November for those who have been unemployed the longest.
Why Were The Unemployment Benefits Stopped
The Senate is basically to blame for playing partisan politics. But with increasing unemployment figures and the probability of facing some very disappointed voters, the Senate has finally gotten over its bitter unemployment benefits and passed the bill on Wednesday with President Obama almost assuredly planning to sign the bill on Thursday.
Exactly Who Will Benefit
Almost two-and-one-half-million Americans have been without benefits or employment for six months since their unemployment benefits lapsed. Those unemployed can expect their benefits to be restored as soon as next week. It might take a little longer in some states. The situation with the unemployment numbers registered and those whose benefits have lapsed seems to be purposefully confusing. State unemployment agencies claim that more than 5 million people who have been on unemployment for over 26 weeks are eligible now for a lump sum check of almost $309 a week that will soon be at their disposal.
Extension Unemployment Checks Will Be Sent Out As Early As Next Week
Pennsylvania and New York is expected to send out back payments next week. People living in Nevada may have to wait a few weeks to get their lump sum payment. Those who have been collecting unemployment longer than 26 months should either call their Unemployment Office or wait for their check in the mail.

Extending unemployment benefits is comparable to giving bottles of whisky to alcoholics. There are thousands, if not millions, of small businesses who would love to hire people, but those collecting benefits aren’t going to take them because of the pay.
Passing this bill is simply enabling those who are too lazy to work for their income.
I’m glad this has passed. Does anyone know when Ohio will start processing payments? Ohio is one of the best Unemployment Insurance companies in the country, no lines to stand in, just go on line or make a phone call. It’s that simple. Ohio payments are set up on direct deposit or a reliacard, so I’m sure once President Obama signs the bill. Ohio will start processing immediately, that’s just my guess. But does anyone know for sure when processing will begin?
To compare the unemployed to lazy alcoholics is so absurd and insulting that it is hard to know where to start. “thousands, if not millions, of small businesses who would love to hire people” Really? Where do you get these figures?
People have to stop grouping all unemployed individuals into one category. Many of us have been actively looking for employment throughout our down time. When accepting a job, we have to look at a few key factors, e.g. pay rate, travel expenses (bus/train), gas, weat and tear on car, food expense for lunch, bills and family situation). I hear people saying this or that place is hiring but when we apply, there is no response to our application or we are discarded because the hiring manager feel we are overqualified and will leave as soon as a higher position comes our way. We also must consider health coverage and options which are very limited especially if you have a diagnosis that is considered pre-existing.
If you are employed and confortable, we are happy for you but don’t categorize us as not wanting to work. Believe me, everyone I talk to is actively lookingg for employment. We have just not been given the opportunity.
I just ask that you know all of the facts before you form a broad opinion.
Those that assert the extended unemployment makes people lazy don’t take into account that these benefits feed families, keep roofs over childrens heads, etc. Things aren’t always as they seem…I wish you could meet some of these people! They’re just like you in some ways…intelligent, hard-working, ambitious only with out a job right now!
And don’t forget the people that don’t even benefit from this legislation (me) who have been out of work for more than 99 weeks (127 weeks). If you think I’m lazy you nuts because when I was last employed I earned over $2K per week! Why in the world would I be comfortable collecting $560 per week! Think of all that me an my family have lost over the last two years….home, cars, retirement $$$, yeah I’m lazy!
M. Hunter-usually I eschew people who use the type of language I am about to use, however, being that it is certainly pertinent in this case, I will ignore my proper upbringing for a moment. Fuck you and your ignorant statement. As both a recovering alcholic and an unemployed HUMAN BEING, I find your statement to be offensive and foolish.
And another thought-if you are so happily employed or satisfied with your situation, whatever that may be, then why in the hell are you on an unemployment blog? If you are employed, go back to work and stop spending company time on the internet. Or, if you continue to do so, then perhaps you will be unemployed as well, and then you may intelligently comment on others situation.
Much luck to you. Ignorant and short sighted overblown, and egocentric people like you often get what they deserve. Hmmmmmmmmm……….
I am shocked to even here someone compare unemployed people to alcoholics. Let me guess your one of those idiot republicans in the senate. Do you know how hard it is to get a job in my state? The sad part is I have a degree and still cannot find employment. So whatever small business you own, I sincerely hope it fails and you can see what is like to watch a bank take your house.
I agree, people who have a job should not be on her looking and laughing about this. Also, I am a single mother who has been looking for a job for over a year. I went as far as 100 miles away from my home to find one, and now I have even applied to small stores, if would be great to get hired at one, I would take a part time job with 15 hours a week rather than nothing, so you will get what is coming to you. I wish you and your family all the bad luck in the world!
M. Hunter doesn’t seem to have the balls to respond back, much less say where he seems to get his information. One word for the likes of you, Hunter. DOUCHEBAG!
I too have been unemployed for over two years. All the companies I have applied to either say that I am over qualified or I do not recieve a call back. I was using my unemployment check to pay for school so that I can be more marketable to the job market. I don’t look for a free ride and I am not an “alcoholic” recieving a “free bottle of whiskey” as a way of staying lazy. I am also a disabled veteran of this great country where I defended your right to voice your opinion. So, enjoy your right that is guaranteed to you by the Bill Of Rights to sit upon your pedastal as look down upon us, the little people, who may very well may be your supervisor when this economy turns around. Let those who are free of sin cast the first stone! Judge not lest ye be judged! We’ll be waiting for you apology!
I am 58 single dad who always work paying taxes for over 40 years and was making $80K a year l grateful that my kids are on their own. I was working for a non profit and I love my job as a programmer, unfortunately due the economy lost my job in July of 2008. I lost my job and cashed in my 401K just to keep my home. I recently move to the basement and rent out rooms but still not making it. I must say with all the rejections from thousands of job application including a fast food I feel depressed and dissappointed it is not Laziness Iam depressed and can not afford to go to my doctor.
I voted for Obama and now feel No one can help us so we just need to learn how to survive on our own. Temporary unemployment extension benefits became a Politcal control to our politician. It was painful to hear the debate if I am entitle for the benefits extension inspite of the fact that I have been paying taxes for 40 years and never experience this type of poverty level. I was always living a frugal life and a responsible citizen. I will try to get a hot dog vendor license see if I can afford it.
The arrogance, pomposity and ignorance of others never ceases to amaze me. I am one of the unemployed that “Hunter” metaphorically likened to an alcoholic receiving whiskey. Normally I wouldn’t waste my time or energy on such a low level thinker, however, I am getting exhausted with the “ignorant crowds’” assumptions of those of us who are unemployed. I was an individual who never thought I would without a career or at least a job, and never imagined I would ever be earning less than my normal $70K per year. With this economy, and the downsizing and mergers, I now find myself on the unemployment roll–MBA and all. I have been told that I am overqualified for jobs for which I’ve interviewed and I’m simply receiving no reply from others. The measly amount I received from unemployment (a fund, mind you, that I’ve spent years contributing into while employed)was barely enough to eat and pay for the gas I needed to job hunt, let alone mortgage, car payments. But it helped. Luckily I have no other debt, but I’ve lost quite a bit in this process. The political games our government has been playing while using our unemployment has a pawn has been unacceptable. Laziness? I doubt that even 50% of those receiving unemployment thinks it’s enough money to survive AND they’re smart enough to know that it WILL run out anyway, so yes, people are looking for jobs. If you know of so many small businesses hiring with positions in my jobs in my field (Finance), I dare you to you post them up. Those that say we are lazy are probably just looking in a mirror at themselves.
My husband and I, who both got laid off have left our home town in KY and all our family (some of my step children are still school age) for work. We first bounced to AR where my husband found work(dragging my kids along) but I could not find a job. So now we have moved to TX. I have applied to all kinds of jobs but have had a really hard time finding something where my education is supposed to pay. The folks are just infiltrated with applications. I have just finally landed a job at $10 an hour(should be making about $25 in the healthcare field). And it doesn’t even start til September! I wish some of the posters that are driving nice cars and owning nice homes would try to move around the country with their school age kids and drive clunkers and live in rental homes. Unemployment is so awesome that we prefer to do this (yes, being sarcastic). I was drawing $312 a week! I agree, must be a republican or another selfish person trying to die with their hands clutching all the money that they are trying to save avoiding paying any taxes. Alot of those people have more money than they can use in a lifetime reasonably but will do anything they can to make sure it stays safely in their pockets! That is so not Christian and isn’t that what the right is trying to stuff down everyone’s throats to keep people voting for them? Christianity and morality is about giving and let’s leave the judgement about unemployment making people lazy to a higher authority.
Thanks ky for that remark about that idiot that called the unemployed lazy,I was going to say more but I think you did a great job with the words you used about that idiot!!
Thanks ky for that remark about that idiot that called the unemployed lazy,I was going to say more but I think you did a great job with the words you used about that idiot!!We are out of work by force not by choice, and if its so many business hiring then why is it sooo many still unemployed? Its 5 people going out every 1 position that comes available,so you retarded fucker I hope you lose your job and then get back on here and comment!!
You are welcome Charm-thank you. It feels good to vent in the face of ignorance. Now, perhaps I will take my lazy, unemployed butt to the liquor store and try to use my food card. M. Hunter was good for one thing today—A GOOD CHUCKLE!!!
KEEP STRONG-THIS WILL PASS!!!
The endless unemployment extensions are hard to justify when I am scraping by having to do whatever it takes to pay my bills. As a “self-employed” / “freelancer” / “independent consultant” for the same company for 5 years I lost my income when the company went bankrupt. . I’ve cut down everything to the bone and beyond. Sold off personal property. Taken work way below my level, almost entry level. Moved downward in housing. But the “no-work pay” for others keeps getting extended and extended and extended supported by Federal Tax dollars. It leaves a bad taste. Either widen benefits to include the rest of us who did not work on staff or let us all stew in the same thin soup. Maybe more families hung out over the hairy, ragged edge will develop some political will. There is a difference between state and federal unemployment benefits. Federal unemployment benefits extend state unemployment benefits out to 26 weeks. They must be explicitly passed by Congress, which doesn’t happen unless there’s a particularly bad recession. They’re paid for out of our federal tax dollars.
Why do theses idiots feel the need to bash the unemployed? Do they get a sick kick out of the responses or are they that arrogant that they think it could not happen to them? NOBODY is IMMUNE to losing their job!!!! and if you are lucky enough to have one now, it is best to keep your mouth shut if all you can do is degrade your fellow Americans. With an unemployment rate of nearly 10% (probably higher), it takes a real idiot to not see that the job market is suffering. No way all these people can be lazy,free-loading Americans. In my 45 years of life, I have seen and experienced Karma. I sincerely wish that all you people that have said cruel, unnessary words about the unemployed that Karma bites you HARD on the ASS!!!!!!!!!!
Stating that all unemployed are lazy and comparable to addicts, is like saying that all women do nothing but shop and can’t read a map. Or saying that all men sit around watching sports all the time and refuse to do housework. Yes, some unemployed ARE lazy, but nobody wants to get paid a tiny bit of money, regardless of their situation. We’ve almost been evicted twice this summer because of this bill being delayed. We are a 3-adult single-car household and two of us work, one of the two employed (me) walks to and from work regardless of heat, rain or blizzards, and no, I am not a postal worker. The unemployed member of the household is unable to find work that he is qualified for. Delaware has few jobs that do not require a trade, licensing or “de-boning” experience. Unless of course you want to work PT at a KFC and make LESS than one would on UE.
I dont know M. Hunter but I am guessing they are a Rep. that dont think us unemployed need help but those making over a million a year need a tax break. I have been working since I was 12 (started with three paper routes in Neb.), at that age I didnt pay taxes but I did give my mother half of my tips to help her as I thought to pay for food. I have lived by that principle my whole life, I am 44 now. I have been out of work for 63 weeks now. My typical day is I get up at 6am and start going through the jobs for the 5 job search sites I use til about 1pm. From 230-300pm until 6pm I go out a pund the pavement knocking on doors of the “thousands if not millions” of small buisnesses out there. I have had 13 interviews and no offers. Now I am in the state of California where the top amount you get is $450 a week, I was making $1500 a week, that is a 70% drop. Really makes me want to sit around the house and drink my whisky. I would love to start work today, and it has nothing to do with the pay M Hunter, I have offered to start out sweeping floors and picking up trash just to work, didnt get the jobs, maybe I smelled to much of whisky, right Hunter. I am sure there are those out there that are happy sitting around waiting for the unemployment check, but a mojority of us arnt, so please all of you that call all of us “Lazy, good for nothing, alcoholics.” please keep the comments respectful unless you go around and meet everyone of us 14mil plus of unemployed americans and can back your statements up.
M.Hunter u are crazy as hell u act like unemployment is reallying paying bills paying mortages putting food on the table for u and ur kids paying car notes yell need i remind u that its not doing any of that i’ve tried it all its only paying on these things and not paying for none of them sincwe u republications made it so much harder for us just remember that what u do 2 1 of God’s children u also do 2 him and no unemployment is only jusr a help it does not provde nothing like what we provide 4 u2 sit up there in office n just critize us that r trying when we are vitually starving losing eveything that we have ever worked so hard 4 2 pay ur salary and the only thing can say is that u weep just what u soe and God will take take care of that in the end and may God bless ur souls because in hell u will lift up ur eyes.
I have been out of work almost 2 years and u can’t tell me what iam and what iam not doing over the 2 year span i have been on 21 interviews and only 1 person called me back and that was only 2 say that they hired someoneelse 4 the job but did appreciate me applying 4 the job so untill u experience what we are going through don’t even have the ardesity to say what we ar and what we are not doing, anything can happen suppose u lose ur job today and they refuse 2 give u unemployment with the sallary we’ve paid u it won’t even hurt u u don’t have the need that we have u have what we’ve ben trying to get all our lives and yet and still the grass is still greener on ur side of the fence but guess what if the good Lord call u home home 2 today u wouldn’t be able 2 carry none of that with u and rest 4 sure God’s gotta plan 4 u so beware
M. Hunter – where are those jobs you say are out there? Do you personally know of any positions going unfilled? Enlighten everybody whose been looking for a job. Enlighten yourself – just as an experiment try to find a job.
It does not make any sense to call people collecting unemployment lazy. They HAD jobs – otherwise they would not be collecting unemployment. That’s not lazy – you dork!
M.Hunter just so you know. My husband worked for over 30 years before suffering a ruptured brain anuerysm. Upon further medical tests he was found to have two additional anuerysms in his brain and was told he could never work again. He applied for unemployment and was approved. He also applied for disability and was denied so we had to get a lawyer to help us fight to get what he deserves. On June second of this year one of his anuerysms was found to be close to rupturing so he required brain surgery. He came through it pretty good. His doctor told us as long as he could keep his stress level down he should do okay. Well he got his last unemployment check on June 26. So much for his stress level. How dare you judge us without knowing our backgrounds or even our desire to work. We are one of the lucky ones who are going to recieve benefits from this extension. Does it help yes. Does it stop the worrying NO. Now we have to start worrying about November. So please if you can’t say anything helpful don’t say anything at all.
To the idiot who says giving people unemployment is like living whiskey to alcholics. Well I guess you probably have a job and a nice bank account. How dare you judge millions of hard working Americans like myself. I am 32 yrs old and I have been working since the age of 15. I was laid off last year and have been looking for employment every day. You think there are all these jobs out there. Why don’t you quit your job and take away your nice bank account and see what its like to try and find a job in this age. Its not easy. My benefits expires 2 months ago and I need the enemploymenjt ASAP. I have lost my Cobra health benifits, my car insurance, and the bank is threating to repo my car. Oh ya and my rent is 2 months over due. I would like you to look at my 4 year old daughter and tell her I can’t take her to Sesame Place, or to bye new toys because you say her father is a no good drunk or drug addict. IDIOT, MORAN, YUPPI,$^^#&*%$#$!@%@!@$^#….
HE JUST WANTED TO FIRE EVERYONE UP IM LAUGHING AT THE LITTLE FELLOW. HES PROBABLY SITTING AT HOME ON WELFARE. ALL THE UNEMPLOYED HARD WORKING AMERICANS TAKE A DEEP BREATH OF RELIEF AND KEEP THINKING POSITIVE… GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
DONT FORGET TO RETURN THE FAVOR TO THESE ASSHOLE REPUBLICANS WHEN THE VOTING STARTS!!
Seems like there always has to be a troll on every site. Same person? Loves to insult the jobless. Must have nothing better to do. If I were employed, I wouldn’t be on sites like this. They say ignore ignorance, or it feeds on your reaction to it. Maybe it is some nut who posts pro & con views to argue with himself or just to keep the site going. Weird people do weird things.
GOP – I’m gonna start a little business. Gonna make a bunch of bumper stickers t-shirts,and ballcaps. Will think up more items later. Am getting people to invest in it. Hope you soon see them on internet ads.
The words on everything will say:
GOP – PARTY OF SCROOGE and DOWN WITH THE GOP FAT CATS. Or you can choose GOP – GOD’S OWN PARTY. NOT.

wow your comparing us to alcoholics? i’ve always had a job and kept them for more than two yrs!!! only people who are against the extension are people who are currently employed or have money. until you walk in the shoes of the millions who are struggling i suggest you keep comments like that to yourself. be careful don’t get too comfortable, next time it could be you….for your sake lets hope not. your such an idiot m hunter!
PLEASE READ THE TRUTH; So I’m compared to an alcoholic, huh? Good job,you are right,I am. But I wasn’t before I lost my job,had a decent job and got laid off and since I haven’t been able to find another job(not 1 that will pay my bills), I got sick and tired of looking and hoping,SO… I have been going to the local bar and havin a lil fun on my Unemployment money, drinkin a few beers, playing the jukebox, flirting with women(and I am a woman).doing whatever I want because I earned this money and can do with it whatever i want to.
But I am fortunate than some,I feel so sorry for the families who have children and a mortgage, etc.
God will take care of us!!! Those families out there, keep your heads up and when you get your 1st check back,go out to a dinner as a Family,it will be OK.
And to the lonely person who compared us to Alcoholics, takes an Alcoholic to know 1,see ya…going to have a beer with your woman.
M. HUNTER, Sorry you have to go to work tomorrow while i’m going to cash my back Unemployment checks and go have me a cold beer and wait a couple months to start looking again. I’m so glad they passed this AGAIN,I needed a break for a while anyway.
I’ve earned this time off and will go back to work when I find another $50,000/yr job…but will settle for $40,000. It will come.
A friend took my kids out for ice cream on National Ice Cream Day. My 5-year-old said “Thank you so much for the ice cream. My mommy doesn’t have the money for ice cream.” If anyone thinks I like this or want this they are insane.
My story is like everyone else’s–I always worked (spent 15 years in management), and I can’t even get called in for an interview. I will remember the way people voted on this for the rest of my life.
ya know all the comments I read they make me sick people just dont care and some do right know it is hard on everyone the working and the ones who are out of work it is hard times and it dont look like it is gonna get any easier for us we need to come to gether united and the U.S. need to help there own we need to look to god more and stop pointing fingers I need the unemployment exstion just as much as anyone else its hard and there are not even jobs at the fast food small shops and etc. who cares what they pay of course it would be nice to get the pay I did but be for real it just dont look like it is gonna happen any time soon we need to start caring for our american people and our fellow man not just our selfs we can be so selfish as people it true there are some who wont even look but there are ones who will its always been that way people are different an alot of it is everyones fault.. laurie I understand just what you are going through and the one who compares us to an alcholic you have lost your mind if it was you would you really think that way watch out cause I know what comes around goes around you need to pray we all do….it might not give us the money we need but it will help see us through this
Yes, notice M. Hunter did not reply-proving that he or she is truly an example of the words he or she hides behind-a COWARD!!!!!!!
God Bless all of those both unemployed and employed that exhibit compassion and care for everyone and their individual situations.
Those of us that have jobs are possibly a step away from being in the unemployment line and those of us already in the unemployment line are hopefully a step away from being out of it.
So, we are all in the same boat and at risk of facing the same dire circumstances.
People like M. Hunter are on the outside realm of human compassion and ultimately lack the ability to show empathy for the human race.
Many of the wingnutz hate being brought from their early 1930′s mindest into modern day America!
I’ve been reading all of these comments and my heart goes out to each and every one of you. I have been unemployed for just over a year and have applied for jobs in every category I could…The person calling the unemployed lazy and comparing it to alcoholics is completely absurd. My weekly check was $188 before it ran out in June…take the $25 off and it’s $163 per week. My income before losing my job was only $17K, but I was making my mortgage, etc…People that want to judge need to remember this saying, “There, but for the Grace of God go I.” I will be praying for all of us, but most especially for those people like M. Hunter…
MHunter,
Where do you live?
We have applied at the small (and large) companies here where I am and they say they can’t afford to hire anybody right now because business is so slow. I’m glad it is differnt where you live and if you are close enough I will gladly drive there to apply to the companies! By the way… I don’t drink – I raise my 2 grandchildren since my daughter was incapassitated so if you think 3 and 4 year olds let me sit and be lazy… open your eyes and join the real world!
TO YOU M.HUNTER FUCK YOU AND THE HORSE YOU RODE IN ON YOUR A DUMB AZZ BITCH WHO SUK THE REPUBS DICK FOR A LIVING……AND YOU MARRIED YOUR DAD FUCK YOUR MOM AND HAD SEX WITH THE FUCKING DOG LIKING HIS ASS…SHUT THE FUK UP YOU STUPID BITCH!!!!
Why are so many bashing the Presidents integrity. He cannot do it all alone. He has asked that we get out and vote and get politicians in office that are going to stand behind what is right. I don’t know why alot of poor and middle class individuals are voting for republicans, because they are not going to help you in your time of need. Just keep on pretending that you are living like the Jones and for sure you will be living on the streets. The President is doing a wonderful job and should be getting praise from the people instead of bashing. Bush destroyed this countries grace when he was in office and now they want to make it seem as if Obama started this mess. Just remember bashers GOD is watching.
Mr. Hunter I can tell is a poor idiot working at burger king, because only a nut would compare millions of people. That is like sorting the good apples from the bad, Because no two people are alike, so how dare you compare all individuals receiving unemployment benefits.
The California resident is exactly right. Mr. Hunter do post some of these jobs that are available.
There’s a lot of folks with jobs who believe those without jobs are lazy. There are a bunch of us – folks who built careers on 60-70 hour work weeks that have applied for hundreds of jobs but barely get a response and are now struggling to make do on ledd than 1/3 of the income that we have consistantly held for decades. The facts are simple.
1st – There is one job for every five applicants.
2nd – With one job for every applicant, in today’s job market the hundreds of resumes received for each posting is keyword culled into the narrowest of credentials and actual career achievement in which someone actually has done something extraordinary is lost. Keywords actually search for sameness and a very narrow set of criteria in which the same 5% are the only ones getting look at by a real person.
3rd. Some companies have written HR policies that refuse to hire the unemployed – the feeling is they are jobless because when given the chance companies cut their least productive and promlematic employees.
4th. In the best of conditions, it takes one month for evry $10K of income for someone to find a job. Add that they may no longer be 30 years old and the situation is amplified. Add that 10% of the workforce is also jobless and things become grim.
Lazy . . . I wish anyone that thinks that to listen to how stupid they sound against verifiable facts.
Shame on M Hunter! What is wrong with you? My husband and I wnet to college and both have always worked and never though anything like this would happen to us. When my husband lost his job last year we were devastated. After months of looking for a job and being turned down for being “overqualfied” or just not being called back for another interview, he has returned to school to become a RN so maybe just maybe he can actually find a job. We could only thank God for the unemployment checks he was receiving while I was working overtime to try and support our family- (we have 5 children by the way). We are not on welfare and we have never lived above our means and thank God had no debt besides our mortgage. But now as we see our savings gone and debate about cashing in our 401K to save our home we wonder why people like M. Hunter have no compassion for others. God bless you! You are in our prayers! I hope this never happens to you!
Thanks Ky for putting m Hunter in his place. He is ignorant and heartless. He deserved all the name calling he got.Walk a mile in our shoes first before you make comments like that, you are lucky M Hunter that this post are done anonymously, cause i wont be surprise that someone will beat your ass.M Hunter cats got your tounge?
YEAH BITCH ASSS M.HUNTER THE M STAND FOR MUTHAFUCKA…..NOT SAYIN ANYTHING ELSE !!! YEA I THOUGHT SO!!!!!! HO!!!!! ASSS BITCH ASS TAKE IT UP THE ASS WITH PEANUT BETTER BITCH!!!!
Mr. Hunter were you drinking or just under the influence of drugs and alcohol when you posted your comments?
This is regarding M.Hunter, my guess he is a lonely man, struggling with his demons of his own alcoholism, living in a rural community, educated through high school, but non the less well read, extreme right wing almost anti government, ignorant to the point he is not well liked, loud and outspoken, arrogant…but he just doesnt understand, “small town little men” like this have “small town” thoughts, he hasnt lived in Manhattan and tried to make it on 50k a year, hes apparently retired or on government subsidies if he doesnt understand the job market, I left my last construction company in 04, top 30 in country, because there is no work left. I worked as a competitive estimator and project manager. Construction is almost 30% of our GDP and I cant find a job anywhere in the country and IGNORANT M.HUNTER says just go down the street and get one. I’m barely surviving off unemployment less alone a $7 dollar job, I’ll move anywhere! So, if you want to talk face to face, man to man, look me up in Detroit, MI…you wont last a second “Hunter”.
M Hunter is obviously living in a fantasy world.
I have worked hard and saved money for years, I own my own house mortgage free, yet after working as a resort manager for over 13 years, due to economic down turn, the resort closed. I paid into the system my whole life, and never asked for a dime, I have spent 15,000 in savings, continue to pay my bills and and have looked every day since getting layed off for a job including weekends. Not everone out there is lazy or sitting on their ass. Sure there are the peolpe who have abused it, but you must either be retired, retarded, or just plain ignorant. I have a Masters in Business, and speak 5 languages and still I cant find a job. Although I have not been as affected like others, and am not or do not need unemployment,it doesn’t mean I don’t understand what it is like to be out of work.
WAKE UP
I have 3 children and was force to leave work due to downsizing of our state government workers 2 years ago. My husband also was recently laid off working in the oil field industry after working for 16yrs. Everything that kept us afloat is sinking. My benefits ran out at the end of May and his are not enough to even cover diapers and formula for our 7month old. We have spent millions of hours trying to find positions. The oil field has crashed which he has done his entire life and no one wants to hire someone who only has a business degree and has been unemployed as long as i have. Our governor even denied a bill allowing us to look for part time work. Odds are against us alcoholics now days! I am trying to stay positive that our country will pull together and stop pointing fingers and once again stand united and help each other. only then will we get out of this depression we are living in.
I have 3 children and was force to leave work due to downsizing of our state government workers 2 years ago. My husband also was recently laid off working in the oil field industry after working for 16yrs. Everything that kept us afloat is sinking. I am trying to stay positive that our country will pull together and stop pointing fingers and once again stand united and help each other. only then will we get out of this depression we are living in. by the way, no one answered a question i saw. IS THERE ANY WHERE TO GO TO FIND OUT WHEN THESE BENEFITS WILL BE GIVEN IN EACH STATE?
oh by the way, m hunter: when my man does become employed again, AND ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME, we will once again be sitting on our high horse bringing in our 176k a yr and u know what we will do. HELP OTHERS! just as we have always done!
does anyone know when payments wil be made in West Virginia ? Calling local unemployment office doesn’t help…quote “We now nothing”

FUCK YOU! im quite certain that 14.6 percent of this country would fuckin kill you for sayin stupid shit like that!
no there is noway for any state office to know when benefits will be givin out, but rest assured bye the end of the week we will all be paying bills and stocking the fridge, as for the lady HYPOCRITE you dare not say that to an unemployed person,In all this time, all of us we all grew older faster bye the minute worrying but I will not let you or anyone else get me down further bye words,I WANT A JOB, YOU AND THE OPINIONATED SEEM TO HAVE THE ANSWERS BUT THERES 1 LITTLE THING YOU ALL FORGOT, THE CONDITION OR QUALITY OF BEING HUMAN I;E; HUMANITY!! WE CANNOT DO WITHOUT THE EMPLOYED, I DO HELP THOSE WHO CAN NOT DO SO HELP THOSE WHO CANNOT HAVE
ok we have established m hunter is the village idiot but to feed into his ignorance or anyone elses that bash unemployment by telling him your life stories is truly a waste of time.Im sure all of you are better then that & as we all know karma is a bitch.dont feed into his ignorance as that is what he (she is looking for ignore him & know all of you are better then him good luck
Well this is just super, aside from the fact that that hunter guy is a major douche, I think we’re all here wanting to know where our money is! For myself, its been about two months of doing whatever we can to get by. What gets me, is that I was given my last check, then extended (thank god), but 4 days after they told me I’d be starting a new extension, they cut me off! Great. Glad I got the heads up and was able to plan!
Now that we’re now two month behind on rent, the most terrible thing happens. My girlfriend that I’ve lived with for two years gets endometriosis and has to take 3 weeks off work. (she’s just a waitress and works at two different Denny’s) So, we’re getting evicted and having to go back to our respective families. (kinda like when you say it can’t get much worse, it almost always does) So we’re here biting our nails wondering which will come first, my checks, or eviction. (no such thing as paid sick leave for Denny’s) I love her so much…
God I hate you republicans. I hope you get the worst kind of ass cancer, only for the doctor to tell you that you can’t afford treatment … Not even the co-pays. Then maybe you’ll know what its like to not see a doctor in over 10 years. I mean, we cant even afford her treatment WITH insurance
As for M. Hunter, heh, wish I could afford ONE beer. And as for that retarded small business comment, yeah like family businesses hire anything but family before walmart and other big business shuts them down. Of course he won’t respond. He’s having to much fun watching the pot he’s stirred. What comes around goes around.
I need a drink.
We all need to unite a prayer chain for us , and even people like Mr.Hunter to curb his views.
Please join and send a prayer, start at 930 pm…
To “hunter” who thinks that people are just lazy and don’t want to work…you have obviously never lost your job and collected unemployment. You are extreamly ignorant! My husband lost his job making 75k a year and was FORCED to collect unemployment. That was not a choice. He would have loved to go on making 75k a year! Our health insurance has run out and he took a job after a year of being laid off, making less than what we got while on unemployment. Unemployment runs out, so obviously people are looking for another job. Did you not think of that point? We needed health insurance and income after the unemployment runs out, that is why he DID take a job making $15 an hour. We had no choice there are no jobs out there! While on unemployment we did not have enough money to live…we got behind on our rent and had our car reposessed. We have learned how to cut corners and adapt to this huge pay cut. My husband is a hard worker who never misses a day of work. If you haven’t noticed the economy is worse than it has ever been and none of these people collecting unemployment are lazy, they just need to survive! Your views are twisted and wrong. Obviously you have had everything handed to you your whole life, I don’t think you know what it’s like to work hard for everything you have and then have it all taken away.
i’ve been unemployed for 4 1/2 months and i’m going nuts not working. I apply to every job i see and can do ,but i’m getting no responses. It’s totally frustrating. i want and need to work. Answer me a question- is president Obama going to pay the state taxes i’ll end up owing because unemployment doesn’t take state taxes out of the checks? Why am i not getting responses to my applications and resumes? This AMERICAN NEEDS AND WANTS TO WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah Hunter, tell me where those $5.00 an hour jobs are, I’ll take one. I could surely make more than what unemployment pays, if they would give me at least 40 hours per week. Wow!! seems like only Hunter and republicans know where the jobs are? I’m up to 156 resumes submitted since 2008. I had two calls, one sent me a questionaire to complete; guess I wasn;’t the right fit and another informed me that my resume will be sent to a client.
a informative good read by you looking forward to visit more very soon.
You you should make changes to the webpage name Senate Unemployment Extension Bill: How Soon Will I Get My Check to something more catching for your content you write. I loved the the writing even sononetheless.

I am a single mother of two wonderful teenagers. I am unemployed and have been told that I too have exhausted all of my benefits. I am still not working. I have tried to find a job within the experience that I have. Administrative Assistant/Receptionist. The problem is not that there are no jobs within this field. the problem is, that I’m African American and don’t speak, write or understand spanish. It’s depressing and is totally not fair. I have even put in applications at Supermarkets etc.. nobody is hiring. what am I to do? I am currently facing an eviction since my unemployment stopped in October 2010. I need a job to keep my family from going into a shelter and being able to eat, bathe etc.. I still need benefits or something. who out there is listening? please help
M. Hunter…. if you’re gonna act like a turd…. go lay on the grass!!!!
