Snowstorm Massive Delays: 32 Airports Affected On Eastern Seaboard

A massive snowstorm is bearing down on the East Coast set to hit from northern Virginia to New York. The area has not cleaned up from the last storm and now it is predicted they will receive up to 18 more inches of snow by Wednesday evening.

Snow, Snow Everywhere

Last weekend residents were hit with 18 to 32 inches of snow. This covered an area from southern New Jersey to our nation’s capital. Trying to dig out from this dropping along with trying to clear downed tree has taken its toll. Some people are happy, however, such as students in certain Washington area schools where classes have been canceled for the remainder of the week. New York has also canceled classes for Wednesday.

More Snow, Less Electricity

Snow, still covering cars, drive-ways, and so forth remains to be cleaned. Now, on top of that, the forecast is for 10 to 18 inches of snow in Philadelphia while New York is set to receive 8 to 13 inches. There are currently 10,000 customers without power in the Washington area and the same forecasters are predicting heavy winds that will most likely cause additional homes to lose their electricity.

Limited Transportation To Serve The Area

A number of airlines have canceled their flights in order to prevent the aircraft from becoming stalled in the snow. Others, such as US Airways, canceled hourly shuttle service serving the key areas between Washington and New York. People have been stranded from the last storm. Now, they might be stranded again due to the new storm. Amtrak rail also announced it will limit service in the Northeast area. This announcement will also cause passengers to be stranded in the coming days. Mother nature is making her second call and she intends to be heard!
