Tea Party Movement: A Liberal Point Of View

From time to time we receive letters from our readers that express views from the left or the right and we decide to publish them. Here is one of those such letters from a reader with a liberal point of view:

Many people have claimed that the liberal media is afraid of the Tea Party Movement and that it has become too strong. The Tea Party Movement has become a very negative group that loathes President Obama and everything that he does. Some have even joked that Obama could cure cancer, capture Bin Laden and create millions of jobs in a day and the Tea baggers would still find something to complain about.

Why Is This Movement So Scary To People

Many people have stated that the negative tone and racist rhetoric is becoming very scary for many people in the United States. Most of the tea baggers are Caucasian men and women and some of their protests have gotten way out of hand. On the day of the health care reform vote, members off the House were spat on, called racial and homophobic slurs, and threatened by some members of the movement. People want the country to move forward and right now groups like this divide the country and united them under a banner of negativity where only people who think their way pass their litmus tests.

 

Can Liberals Turn This Negative Into A Positive

On the news, many liberal media outlets have been able to spin the Tea Party Movement into something to joke about. The protesters wear funny costumes, hats with tea bags on them, and often have misspelled signs at their rallies. Liberals can turn this around by using it to show that they are the calmer party and have tried to negotiate with those on the far left. Every time there is a resounding no from the right, the liberals in the Senate and Congress can turn this around to voters as showing them that Republicans do not take any action at all. Talk is cheap it is what you actually accomplish for Americans that matters.
