The Tea Party Movement–What They Are And What They Are Not
By Victor Hatley on April 10, 2010, 6:33 amWith the face of the government changing virtually every day it’s no wonder that people are starting to question the decisions being made. The statements that are being given in answer to the questions being asked apparently aren’t satisfying to some, and these people have banded together to form the Tea Party Patriots. This group seeks to gain a foothold and (they hope) some form of control over the government and the decisions that are being made.
What The Tea Party Patriots Are
In their mission statement they claim that they are seeking: government limited by the constitution, free market, and financial responsibility. They assert that present spending can only be supported by higher taxation, a thing that none of us wants. Another assertion is that the Federal Government is interfering with state and individual rights; also asserted is that they are managing to distort the free market to it’s own ends. All of these are seemingly noble goals, but bound to be intensely fought by the present politicians.
What The Tea Party Is Not
According to some political web locations the Tea Party Movement is comprised of liberals, white supremacy groups, and those not satisfied with the present administration. The truth though is this isn’t factual…at least not entirely. Nobody connected with the movement is happy with anything the entire government is doing at this time. A recent CNN poll found that the Tea Party Movement is comprised of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, many renouncing their former ways, that feel the present government is cheating, stealing and (metaphorically) raping America. One leading spokesperson, Sarah Palin, touts the prospects of this movement. Prospects that political analysts are saying will come to nothing if they cannot get more support from the caves of the politicians.
