Unemployment Extension 2010 Is Mandatory: Can’t They Agree To Disagree
By Sara Fernandez on December 9, 2010, 3:56 pm
The latest twist in the saga over extending unemployment benefits, illustrates Democratic displeasure with the bill. The current proposal aim to extend Bush-era tax rates and offers an extension of unemployment benefits. Both are seen as key legislative victories for each party.
Tier 5
Unemployment Benefits Extension 2010: Tier 5 Extension Will not Help 99ers - The unemployment benefit extension for level 5 that will involve the 99ers is the talk of the town today in the internet. Apparently, Vice President Joe Biden has recently talked with the House Republicans and Democrats to keen with a deal that will allow the Congress to pass another year of unemployment benefits in exchange of a 2-year tax cut for big enterprises and high earning individuals.
Republicans Blame Democrats
Republicans are saying that Democrats fail to get genuine solutions to the issue of unemployment extension and Tier 5, while Democrats says that Republicans are blocking these solutions. The fact is that almost all of these politicians are paid heavily, earned a lot and care less about what ordinary people actually feel or experience in their everyday lives. It could have been easier if Democrats did win majority of Congress last mid-term elections but corporate power and the rich would not allow them to just give unemployment extension benefits to unemployed.
President Obama’s administration continues to try to drum up support for the framework agreement it announced earlier this week that includes an extension of federal unemployment benefits and an across-the-board extension of Bush-era tax cuts for two years.
A Hard Sell
But the president has struggled to convince his disgruntled men agree on the contract. The biggest problem is that Republicans have already added a rider to the bill important advantage of others. It is understood that under the bill, the government fully support the tax cuts of the Bush and Republicans in response that has already opposed the extension of the Bill of tax relief will not block. It is this agreement that many Democrats are unwilling to accept.

They really need to resolve this issue! I am a single mom who was laid of in June of 2010. I have not been able to find a job and just called in my last unemployment check this week! What am I to do?? I have been in the morgage business for 7 years and I have been applying for jobs that are out of my field. From this past 6 months I have had about 4-5 interviews! Which none hired me because they hired someoone else. They are playing with my life here! My stress level is so high, I have never had to deal with this in all my life. I worry and cry everyday! Even looking for a job is nothing but heartache, day in and day out looking everyday, and even hoping this will be the day I will get and interview and they will hire me! I come from a military family, so I am not some lazy person by all means. My father fought for this country and here his own daughter is having the goverments back turn on her! The same goverment our family has stood by and my father has risked his life for! What the HELL is wrong with our goverment! Stop acting like children and compromise like adults and do what is best for THE PEOPLE, the ones this country is built with!
I wish those selfish men hurry up and agree on the unemployment extension. We citizens are at the mercy of these congressmen and senators we elected for office. They do not care for us unemployed souls. They have a secured job, money in their pockets, a warm home, food on the table, and are looking forward to exchanging gifts on Christmas and enjoy the holidays with their families.
We should all march and demonstrate in front of the Capitol! It will be the 6 million person march! The problem is most of us can’t afford to go to Washington!
I’m disgusted with any Democrat who opposes this bill. What is wrong with them? I am on my last week of unemployment (Tier 1) and sick over this delay, not knowing how I will pay my Jan. 1 rent. I’m thrilled Obama made the compromise b/c that is the ONLY way the GOP will allow ANY unemployment extension to pass. Is higher taxes on the richest 2 percent of Americans so important to you that it’s worth it for millions of unemployed Americans to lose the only support they had to keep them off the streets? Thank you President Obama for making the right choice to FIGHT for the American people. I’m glad I voted for you.
I think the President is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. At this point he needs to take a strong stand and when Martial Law is in effect, only then will he be able to help Middle America. Many Americans will have to put their children in foster homes if they don’t get a job in a week or receive unemployment benefits. Are there several million foster homes out there? Many Americans will be starving and on the streets. Many! If they can’t afford the antidepressants the doctors have been handing out and they lose cable, what are they going to do when they lose their kids and home. It may not be pretty. During the next election, Americans should choose the president they want and vote with their own ballots. I am tired of our candidates being chosen for us, they lie to us and then; act like spoiled children when the United States needs them most to do the right thing for the people who elected them. Oh yeah, someone tell Wesley Snipes to get a better lawyer since it is unconstitutional for the federal government to make Americans pay Federal Income Taxes.
I feel for people who have it tough and I myself found a job after a while but 99 weeks is long enough. Lets they they add a tier 5 when that ends 95% of the 99ers will still be unemployed and back in the same boat and will want a tier 6 at some point its got to stop. the country can’t afford tier 5. in order to pay for it all of our taxes will go up. I’m not trying to be insensitive here but that’s how I feel. And on a side note states with an unemployment rate under 6% only get 6 months state unemployment thats it
Why are thr democrats fighting to put their two cents in, the President has a right to make this deal without their consent. They are suppose to do whatever is best for the American people, not sit around and pout and stall because they feel left out. People are going without everyday that they sit around with their lips poked out instead of sucking it up and doing the right thing by accepting and passing this deal.
Face it: Republicans care not about Americans, except those who line GOP pockets. Some Democrats have also been co-opted by right-leaning corporate donors, albeit perhaps not to the extreme degree of the Republicans. I say keep going – let unemployment benies expire, let the poor lose everything and don’t forget to kill the middle class. Perhaps after that, the ignorant, brainwashed masses of the USA will wake up and realize that we’re in the same situation we were in at the turn of the century. We need to control the robber barons (large corporations/ultra powerful individuals)
and tax the living sh*t out of them until we have the same rates for them as in the Eisenhower administration. Furthermore, we need to level the playing field for American workers and reinstate tariffs for imports – like everyone else does to us. I’m tired of the US taking knives to gunfights over trade. Our government no longer represents the interests of the American people, only corporations!
Protest!
Protest at the steps of your state’s capital!
Protest at the steps of your state’s Senate!
Protest at the steps of the Whitehouse itself!
Millions of people standing in the National Mall!
Tent City of all those homeless due to government B.S. IN THE NATIONAL MALL!
They’re NOT listening to faxes, or phone calls, or letters. They need to see your face and feel your emotion. Else nothing is gained at this point.
MERRY CHRISTMAS CONGRESS(INSERT SARCASM) HOPE YOU ALL CHOKE ON YOUR TURKEY DINNERS! OH, I SHOULD SAY YOUR FANCY TURKEY DINENRS! TOTALLY DISGUSTED WITH ALL OF YOU! THE ONLY ONE I’VE HEARD GIVING AN ACTUAL DAMN IS THE PRESIDENT.
STOP SHIPPING JOBS OVERSEAS!
Your article is very hard to read, and as a result makes little sense. Perhaps you could proove read it before you post it?
Our Congressmen should be ashamed of themselves. Let a disaster take place in another country and see how fast they send money. Our money!!! I have been drawing unemployment since 12/5/09 when the company I worked for decided to close the doors. Unemployment is high in the state I live in so I have not been able to find work. Employers are being so dang selective right now because they can. You just can’t go into a place and say I want to work here and get a job. It also depends on if their is a person on the inside pulling for you. I have seen this time and time again. That is why it burns me up when people call the unemployed laze and free-loading. Maybe they need the chance to see if they can do any better. Before my world fell apart I had a credit score of 780. Always paid my bills and usually paid them off early. Even had a nice little nest egg. Never in a million years would i have imagined that I would be in the shape i am today. I cry everyday and have forgotten how it feels to be happy. I have filed bankruptcy and turned a car that I almost had paid for over to the bank. Anything to try to save my house. I have a four year old daughter that depends on me and i am scared. I am so tired of the Republican/Democrate games. They are playing with peoples lives. While they are planning their Christmas galas and shopping the finer stores for their gifts, millions are struggling and worried out of their minds.
I agree with Jon 100% Although much easier said then done, but yet it might be the only way to get any results for the future. I know some call it socialism, and I say at certain dark times such as these, you need a little socialism, until things can get back on track. Besides it’s only taking money back that these corporations have stolen from the American people over the years. Are we on pace to match other 3rd world countries where the rich, and government lives behind castle walls, and the poor live on the streets. Human nature is greed, and by voting in Republicans year after year only leads to the mess we are in now. I believe in small companies that give more people an opportunity to make a decent living, and creating competition, that drives prices down on goods produced. Corporate greed only leads to mergers, and buy outs, that reduce jobs, and competition, thus leaving more unemployed. Even if there are 99ers that are lazy, it doesn’t speak for the rest of the people that have worked hard all there lives. either way it doesn’t stop the fact that there are more people laid off then jobs available.
Giving the tax cuts to the wealthy top 2% only keeps the struggle going longer then facing the issue hear and now. People need help now. I can see no good by excepting this new unemployment package for the long run, except short term help, just like they have done the past 2 years. They truly need to stop this tax cut.
What is happening is absolutely disgusting. Old richey rich up on capital hill isn’t tightening his finances, his belt, or worrying about the less fortunate this Christmas season. Hey isn’t that a public office position you have there? Way to go! Hope you’re really proud that you will be starving families, increasing depression and neglect for children, and forcing people into homelessness.. but then again who cares. Not the fat cats making our money decisions, that’s for sure. Merry Christmas to the GOP and the Democrats that wouldn’t support a bill that helps the poor man. I hope you choke on your Christmas dinners!
I have been unemployed since May 2008, I worked in hazard insurance for 2 years. I have been told I am under-educated or Too experienced for jobs. Congress needs to hurry up and make a decision. There are many families in the US who depend on their check to make ends meet, including myself!
well,I know you people dont know me but I wanted to say goodbye anyway. On Christmas Eve I will take as many sleeping pills as I can and leave this world behind.Dont worry I wont harm anyone else only myself.I have lost my job,my family,my dignity,my hope and my will to live.I will leave a note saying why I did it and hopefully it will get some news time and help the rest of you.Good luck my fellow Americans and I hope noone else gets this low:(
At this point all I can do is pray to God and have faith that they will do as the President asks. There are too many people fighting depression over the fact they will lose their unemployment. This is a sad statement for our country that grown people can’t act grown and do what is for the good of our people, our citizens. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE UNEMPLOYED AND THE CONGRESS THAT IS CAUSING THIS PAIN.
Paula,im scared of the next life but this one sucks.I hope God understands why I did this to myself.I have no hope!I apply for jobs and noone calls back.i sit at home and cry all day most days and im sick of crying. Its time for me to go on my way.I wish for better things for the rest of you
To: Sickofit
Donot do anything foolish. Call a help line for depression. I know how you feel. I truly do. During the 7 weeks that congress and senate gop leaders held up unemployment benefits this past July, I thought about doing the same thing, then the despair would be over. But God is bigger than all of us, congree and senate too. The democrats donot care about Americans either. It is such a shock!! They hate the president because he is the pnly one trying to help the average american.
For the demsscrats it is all about beating the gop republicans. No one is listening to the American people. God Bless President Obabma for caring, and how dare the democrats, his own team fight him on helping the middle calss , so they can WIN from the GOP.
They should all be ashamed, the democrats. They all know there is more than enough money for everything as they lie to americans. If a disaster happened in another country they would have plenty of money to help. This is all truly a dusgrace! And the media wont talk about it too much at all. I love my country, i love America, but this has to be enough. I paid for years or my car insurance, when i need it, it is there. Same for my life insurance. Where is my unemployment insurance?? Every employer I had for 30 years put money in to coer me if this would happen, for 5 years if necessary they gave the darn jobs away! who would choose living the poverty level unemployment check to 46,000 a year??? Cant buy anthing but pay rent and basics and run pout of food before the end of the month! A disgrace to the democrats. Repugs we know is a disgrace.
I have been unemployed since September 2008. I have worked temp assignments. I have depleted my 401K. I have taken my children out of private school. I have sold 1 car. I have modified my mortgage. My ice maker broke a week before Thanksgiving. My UI benefits stopped after Thanksgiving. My refrigerator has gone out TODAY. My check engine light is on. And woe is me and everyone else I am competing with for whatever job is available…….Did you say the tax cut helps those employed with income coming in in the millions? Did you say the EUC Tier 5 was to help those who have income coming in in the 0? And are you telling me they would prefer to pass a tax cut then to extend benefits? They would prefer to negotiate the standard of living for the middle and lower class at the expense of “cushioning” the upper class? Um well…..I’m glad I can count on the Lord!
@rent to pay Thanks for the advice and I have done those things but it isnt working for me anymore.I am sick of all this crap really sick of it.Thanks for your concern but please dont worry about me its for the best and i am at peace wit it.I wish you the best and everyone else out there and I really hope life doesnt beat any of you down to where i am.Good night and I will pray for all of you and myself.
DON’T LET THESE PEOPLE TAKE YOUR LIFE FROM YOU! I understand that you feel alone, depressed and tired, but don’t let this relentless situation get the best of you. We all have to continue to pray and hope that our government will do the right thing. I was recently unemployed myself. I have four school aged children and living check to check is very hard. I have recently gone back to school hoping to further my education and maybe relocate to somewhere where the job market is fairly decent, but in the meantime I continue to pray and do the best that I can. Please think about what you are doing. Killing yourself is definitely not the answer. May God be with all of us.
I too have found myself unemployed (now 12 months) for the first time in my life (I’m 57). I put myself through college and a Masters program while working full time to support my family…and what has that gotten me? Nothing.
Keep plugging away everyone, but don’t forget to vote these selfish,self-centered politicians out of office next election. They would love for you to off yourself and not vote them out. Lobby everyone in your family to vote any incumbent out of office who voted to destroy you. (we all saw the power of your vote in November). God bless us all.

Can congress consider a year or two pay freeze of their fat salaries to charity and experience how it looks like to stay out of job for a long time through no fault of theirs?
Please congress get this bill passed. There are so many people that have been reliant on those checks because the economy really isn’t getting any better. I lost my job in 2009 and I was the only one working to support me my fiancee and 2 children. When they struggled on the last extension I was scared I was gonna lose my home because they hadn’t reached their desicion. I have been searching for a long time for a job and have had no luck. Everytime I apply for a job and then call back they say they have closed the position. It’s crazy and now I have an extra mouth to feed. Please everyone pray to God that they can extend this or several people will lose homes and families.
NO WE ARE NOT LAZY NOR FREE LOADING, WE WORKED FOR OUR MONEY, SO DONT CALL US LAZY, I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT WHEN AN IMMIGRANT COMES TO THE UNITED STATES THATN THEY GET ALL THIS FREE MONEY FOR BUSINESSES AND CARS AND HOMES WHILE US AMERICANS SIT HERE AND HAVE TO BEG FOR OUR UNEMPLOYMENT OR EVEN FOOD STAMPS AND MEDICAL I THINK IT IS A DISGRACE TO ALL AMERICANS WHO HAVE BUSTED THEIR A**** TO LET US DOWN IN SUCH A MANNER, IM NOT PREJUDICE BUT THIS IS NONSENSE, I HAVE WORKED SINCE I WAS 16 YEARS OLD SO DONT YOU DARE CALL US LAZY AND FREE LOADING THE ONLY LAZY ONES I SEE IS YOU SITTING ON YOUR A**** LAUGHING IN OUR FACES I THOUGHT DISCRIMINATION WAS ILLEGAL……….
AND FURTHER MORE WHEN YOU HAVE PUT IN OVER 173 APPLICATIONS AND NOTHING COMES ABOUT WHAT THE HELL ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO, OH SIT BACK LIKE YOU ON YOUR WEALTH, SIPPING YOUR SCOTCH? YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED I KNOW THE GOOD LORD IS “OF YOU”…………………………………….
Listen, I bash the 99er’s who are lazy and taking advantage, but to those of you who truly are in a bad situation through no fault of our own – trust this, the Tax Deal WILL GO THROUGH. No politician will go home on Christmas break without taking care of those who deserve help. If you still qualify for benefits, YOU CAN COUNT ON AN EXTENSION – Good luck and God Bless!!!
I believe there was a time, if you were unemployed, it was because you didn’t want to work. That’s not true anymore.
In the last two years, we have lost more jobs than there are people currently unemployed.
How do the politians expect us to find work?
Putting money into the hands of people that are unemployed will create jobs.
We have to spend it all. Believe me there is nothing left at the end of the month.
Demand for goods and services creates jobs.
Don’t our politicians understand basic economics?
I don’t think any of us that are collecting unemployment are enjoying this life style.
We all have the same wants and desires as everyone else.
We didn’t choose to go on unemployment and we didn’t cause this depression. We want to work and support our families.
Why are we the victims?
Until this crisis is over, it is the responsibility of our government to provide us a safety net.
If it takes adding to our nations debt, so be it.
You can be sure, the more we put people out of work, the less taxes they will collect and the more difficult it will be to repay a single dime.
We are spiraling downward and the politicians don’t seem to get it.
Our government has got to start incentivising companys and businesses to start hiring people, by what ever means possible.
That is the only way we are going to turn this economy around.
Single mom with 3 small children, an ex-husband not willing to pay child support and help his children is on unemployment and hoping for an extension (yes I think I would be considered a 99er)but I am studying now and going into the field of law because I had trust in our country and system….I also have a son in the military who is serving and at this time deployed, at home, his wife and 2 children……a shame, when I think how much we do for other countries, I always tell my kids,”You cannot help others if you can’t help yourself,…” C’mon America(our gov’t)”What are we doing to ourselves? Help us first, then we can do for others….Where are they now to help us?” Does anyone have a job for me, by the way?
Can we as Americans go to these agencies for help like “World Relief” and have someone place US in an apartment and pay for our food just like for the immigrants when they come here? (Just a thought, actually a valid question)
is anyone else concerned about the comment ‘sickofit’ left? suicide? this is what the government has pushed people to? i’m a peace loving person but maybe it’s time to let the government know we are tired of taking this shit! maybe a revolution is in order. i don’t know. nothing else seems to be working. maybe on christmas day, the unemployed should beat down the door of the nearest government official and partake of their holiday dinner, open their presents and when the day is done, sleep in their warm beds. i cannot express how utterly disgusted i am by our government. what the hell happened to this country? we are the first to respond to an international situation or disaster but we can’t even take care of our own people? WTF??? it’s all about appearances. how do we look to other countries? well, i wonder if these other countries we continue to offer help to realize they are taking the food and shelter from hard working americans? the government did this to us and we just sit back and take it up the ass, as always… now that i’m thinking about it, i’m not sure who i’m more disappointed with. the politicians or the american people. damn… now i’m depressed. maybe ‘sickofit’ has it right… because i can tell you, if we don’t do something drastic and soon, it’s only going to get worse.
and a note to ‘sickofit’-please don’t do it. i don’t know you but i guarantee there are people in your life who would be devastated to lose you.
now, i’ll step off my soapbox… sorry for the long rant.
You people saying 99 weeks is long enough are so ignorant. Most people that are unemployed are Tier 1. In other words, 46 weeks.
And sickofit – If you kill yourself because you dont have a job, your a complete moron and deserve to die. Your going to commit suicide because you arent bringing in 386 dollars from unemployment? Are you serious? You can easily get a job making 9 dollars an hour anywhere. People are pathetic.
two years of unemployment give me a break”" get a job you losers
I have worked at the same job since I was 18. I was laid off in august of this year and I am now 35. I am at this point getting the normal 26 weeks of unemployment but I feel bad for the people that have exhausted there means. For the past 4 months I have put in over 200 applications and yes people, even to McDonalds and I am not getting any response. I want to work! I want to get up in the morning and go out of my house and think that I am doing something useful! 363.00 a week is just enough to pay bills and rent. My 16 year old goes to private school and I had to ask my parents to help with his senior year if things dont turn around for me soon. I have saved for retirement since my very first paycheck and now I have to dip into that just to make ends meet. I sold my car, I take the bus. We moved to a one bedroom and I sleep on the couch. I will do anything, andything to work again. Please dont make it sound like I am lazy becuase I am far from it. I work temp jobs when they call and I do call them every morning. Now, I agree some people are taking advantage of the extensions, byt what about the few rest of us who really are just trying to make ends meet until I can find a job. I made 80000.00 a year and now I make 363 a week. Help me!!!! Please help me!!!! I want my child to look at me like he respects me again.
We all have the strength to get through these times, and Congress will pass this after the initial political grand standing by well-meaning people who are not debating this issue but are debating the tax cuts. From our perspective, they are crass and unthinking. From their perspective they are principled and standing up for us, the American people. I’m just glad the man in the Oval office can prioritize and clearly see a workable solution in an unfortunate situation.
I have been unemployed for almost a year now, and I’m stuck in the “you’re over-qualified or under-educated” boat. I’ve unsuccessfully tried to start my own business as a means to support myself. I’m back in the void of being clueless as to knowing where the money is going to come from and I am at risk of losing my house next month, but the one thing that no one can take from me except myself is my peace of mind and my faith that I’m going to look back on this and know that I’m capable of surviving anything.
Six months ago, I thought I wouldn’t make it another month. Five months ago, I thought I wouldn’t make it another month. Every month, I think I can’t make it another month, and guess what? I do. I’m still here, and so are you.
I’ve realized that next month I’m going to be here and I’ll be happier than I was this month – not because I will necessarily have better circumstances but because I’ll have grown to further discover that my circumstances and how much money I have doesn’t dictate who I am and how I experience my life.
Just by reading this far in the conversation, I assert that you have the intellect, the passion, and the concern to make a difference in your life and the lives of others around you regardless of how much money or education or experience you do or don’t have.
And BTW, if you are on the internet and able to read or comment on this issue, you have a computer or access to a computer. That in itself speaks the material abundance that we experience everyday that we are blind to. I’m grateful that I have a warm bed to sleep in, a refrigerator with food in it, electricity to keep it cool, and a garage with a car in it. And sooner than later, I’m grateful that I will be driving that car to a new job and this dark night of the soul will break into a new dawn and I will have become a better person for it. I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow but today, I am blessed.
*Please forgive me if I sound preachy or offensive; that’s not my intention. I think there’s a lot of fear and darkness in the world, and I just need to remind myself day in and day out that there is love and there is light. Keep your heads up.
I have been unemployed since October 2008. I have had ONE temp job since then that lasted 2 and a half weeks. That’s it. I’m constantly looking for work, but so has everyone else, so every job I apply to, there are at least a few hundred other people applying to the same one.
I have cut everything to the bare essentials, but am still struggeling to make it. For the first time in my life, I quit paying some of the larger bills like, credit cards to survive. When it comes down to paying the credit cards or paying to heat my house, which one do you think I’m going to pay?
I’ve forgotten what it is to be happy. When you’re stressed out everyday and can’t sleep everynight about bills, that tends to happen. The phone calls from bill collectors don’t help either. I have always been responsible and paid my obligations, but the economy has forced me to ruin my credit and my name. When you don’t have the money to pay it, there’s nothing you can do but hope that the job that you and 200 others applied to chooses you out of the competing applicants, and you rebuild everything one day. I also have a house that I might lose.
I love the holidays, but I just want to skip them. Scrounging for a few extra dollars to go Christmas shopping is sickening, when I could buy him everything he wanted 2 years ago. He will get some gifts though, through donations. I’m grateful for that, but it also reminds me of what I can’t give him myself.
I don’t want to make this a soapbox, but for those who think the unemployed are just being lazy, they can now see more of the big picure. If I was offered a job tomorrow, there’s no doubt I would take it. I’ve always been able to support myself and stand on my own 2 feet, until 2 years ago. It is not our fault we are unemployed. If you’re looking for someone to blame, you can blame the same “wonderful” people who sign our unemployment checks. That’s right, the government got us into this mess. We can’t fix it ourselves, so, when are we going to get out? BTW, I’m ending my Tier 3.
To Velvet
I agree with you 100%. I come to the library to use the internet. I am in Wisconsin and most of our jobs are to be applied online so I come here daily to check my email and apply for more jobs but I also go out everyday ( on the bus) and apply for other jobs. As long as my son and I have a roof over our head, food in our bellies and heat and electric then I really cannot complain about too much. I know I do everything in my power to try to find a job. Everyday I am at the library to use the internet to help find a job as well as I make sure I apply to at least 3 jobs in person everyday. I dont care if it is McDonalds or a grocery store or a gas station. A job is a job and I want to feel like I am worth something again. I think there are some people out there that are taking advanatge of unemployment. Hell, I know of a few friends that would rather sit on there butts collect unemployment and now they can get foodstamps. In there eyes, they are making out better now than before. I try to tell them the longer they wait to find a job, the harder it is going to be. I thought I would have gotten something by now, even part time for holiday help would be something, but no luck. I use to be able to go to temp agencies during the holidays to pick up some extra work and money, but they dont have anything really either right now. Every once in a while they will call and have a few day assignment for mim wage and I jump on it!!!!
Sooo, to the people that are calling us lazy, there may be some of us, but there are some of us who are really trying. I’m slowly dipping into my 401k and I have planned to retire since my very first paycheck. I wanted to retire when I was 55 but looks like that is not going to work anymore.
I can say this though, this has made me and my son look at the “what if’s” and some of this has taught us a good leason. We use to order food every friday night, now we make our own pizzas. He works part time and he saves and he tries to help me.
We cut out all the extras.
I read these statements left on all these sites and really wonder if we see the end of this all.We can state our stores to these sites until we are blue in the face, but until we take to the streets and demand our rights as U.S.citizens ,than we are still going to be given the shaft. We need next election to take and sidestep all political parties(rep./dem./ ind.)and put into office a plan working man whom has the backbone to tell all other countries and the top 2% of the U.S.citizens.Don’t look to the U.S. gov. to bell you out or make you richer. We must lookout for the children and elderly of our country before we look at anyone else.We are feedup with the rich companies shipping the jobs overseas, and if you do you best bet you will be taxed to the point that it is less prophitable than to keep them here and pay the AMERICAN WORKERS the proper pay and get our economy back to the standard it should be for a country that has keep the entire world from living under tyrants, that we defeated in W.W.II.Look back in history and which country it was that has keep this world on it’s feet. Now it is time we take to the streets and handle this(for it is tyrany)the way our Gov. has gotten. So lets stand and do what we must and stop being politically correct. For the U.S.Workers are not lazy, and we must insist on our rights as U.S.Citizens.And some may be using the system, but I know the larger majority are not lazy, so don’t even comment back to these ignorant ones whom think they know what is going on.GOD BLESS YOU ALL!AND REMEMBER WHEN THE TIME COMES STAND UP AND GIVE THEM HELL,FOR I KNOW MOST OF YOU ARE GOING THROUGH IT ALREADY.RIGHT IS RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe the idiots who run congress will repeal Nafta, cafta, the China free trade deal, and every other stupid “free trade” deal? No?
Just go ahead and pass the Korean “free trade” deal! Whats a few more million americans losing there job in the big scheme of the things, right? Welcome to the Grapes of wrath!
It is bittersweet that people share the same ire as I. Lost my job, raising a daughter, car is rundown, apt. is the size of a shoebox. etc… Been working since i was 12. Left one job because they were letting people go and wouldn’t ya know i got let go at the new job. Their is a little humor there. When i got let go i decided to go back to school for two years in a degree that suited me. i have taken out loans to pay for school tuition. i volunteer much of my “free time” for charities and my kids school. I go out of my way to give what i can to the less fortunate than me. i have been on an exhaustive search for a job that fits my school schedule and most importantly my kid. my rant here has some reason. it goes out to those who think “us” are lazy. We are doing everything in our power to find employment. when is the last time you tried so hard at something! I would work you under the table! and then when your boss lets you go because i am the better worker, can i call you lazy then! to everyone who is trying, GOD bless. to those who sit around and downgrade people, you will need us someday! lets hope for your sake that we treat you with more humanity than you have shown “us”!
Its sad to see so many frightened once prideful people losing all they have homes, cars and in some cases children due our goverment. The goverment is responsible for our lives being driven down the drain. They need to look at themselves in the mirror and see what is really looking back. They have sent out jobs over seas. taxed us to death. They sit in their throwns of power and play chess with our livelyhoods. Its almost wathing children play in the same sandbox that dont get along at all. Its the goverment who killed us as a nation. We the united states are laughed at and mocked because of the childish actions of our own goverment. I believe that the President comprimised because of his concern for our well being as a nation. He sees us as people in need of help. when you run for office it is funded with supporters and contributions. Maybe 100 people should run for the same political position and when only one gets it, the rest should feel what it would be like to be out of a job. I have applied for at least 100 jobs and now am apllying for partime positons just to be able to provide food and schools needs of my children. The part that makes me laugh and brings a smile to my face is when elctions come around we the unemployed are expected to vote for those who for what ever reason dont think about us but only when its for their personal gain. i would sooner walk away and not vote. Humanity come first. And the only thing i believe in right now is that we are vorn with nothing and for most of us will die with nothing. A special thanks goes out to those in control of my future as well alot of other peoples futures. You slowely have buried us. You all should be ashamed of youselves. and for the first time i am ashamed of myself cause my children have an unemployed mom (thats something to be proud of huh)at no fault of my own. again thank you for ruining our nation. ut i give the president kudos for at least attempting to keeps our faces and stories alive and his compassion for our futures.
Bill Smith,
You are an ignorant, insensitive, clueless, pig. I hope that you have to feel the pain that others who had to loose their jobs, everything they worked for, and then loose the small amount of unemployment benifits they were receiving, which they need to support themselves and their familes. You are truly an abomination!
I DON’T CARE WHO BLAMES WHO, JUST GET OFF YOU POMPAS ASSES AND OK THE BILL. IF NOT I HOPE YOU ALL GET COAL FOR CHRISTMAS. I CAN’T AFFORD IT BUT YOU CAN. SUCK IT UP GUYS!!! YOU GOT US INTO THIE MESS, GET US OUT OF IT.
CRAP OR GET OFF THE POT!! WE JUST NEED AN ANSWER YOU FOOLS.
WELL SINCE THE 99ERS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR ANY TYPE OF EXTENDED BENEFITS WHAT THE HELL ARE WE TO DO NOW?
the government needs to repeal N.A.F.T.A. and penalize the all businesses and corporations taking jobs out of the country putting the fines toward the deficit it seems that corporate welfare are creating millionaires who get richer making or buying out a company just to drive it into the ground to ask uncle sam for a handout. our government are the ones who created this mess with the North American Free Trade Act why cant they admit that they were wrong and repeal the act?
