Why Nancy Pelosi Is Negatively Impacting Health Care Reform
By James Fox on January 22, 2010, 1:28 pmNancy Pelosi stated that the House of Representatives will not support health care reform legislation right now. She stated that the Senate’s health care reform bill has too many provisions that members of the House are not in favor for. Here are some reasons why Nancy Pelosi is negatively and arrogantly impacting health care reform when she should be helping it.
Talk To The Media Is A Double Edged Sword
Making statements to the press saying that the House will not support health care reform legislation shows democrats that there is a weak link. Passing health care legislation is hard enough, but telling the press that they do not have the House’s support hurts the cause even more.
The Election Of Scott Brown To The Senate Is No Joke
In Massachusetts, Scott Brown who is a republican was recently elected to fill Ted Kennedy’s vacant senate seat. This means that there are forty one republican senators and fifty nine democrat senators. The majority is gone and a few key democrats might bolt due to this fact alone. If these senators feel like they are going alone on this without Nancy Pelosi’s and the House’s support then they are more likely to vote no on health care reform.
Solution: Rally The Troops As Fast As You Can
It seems like democrats do not have a leader when it comes to voting. President Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi need to rally the democrats and explain to them how important this legislation is. You can never make everyone happy and republicans will always vote no, no matter what the legislation says. If democrats do not act soon then not only will they be in danger of losing their jobs but they will also lose health care coverage for thirty million people.
